What does that even mean
>There are many more overrated PSX games per game than N64 ones

The PSX is chock full of obscure gems, much more so than the N64. Awesome shit like Carnage Heart and Rapid Reload, there's very little good on the N64 that isn't the already oft-mentioned first party stuff. I don't know why you keep referring to the PSX though, are you implying I'm a sonygger?

To keep this thread on topic, allow me to post a popular N64 game that actually deserves its hype.

> I don't know why you keep referring to the PSX though

The post you quoted was my first ITT, man.

>What does that even mean

What I mean is that there are far more PSX games than N64 ones and so there are bound to be more shitty PSX games than N64 ones in total; but on a game by game basis I can find no clear winner in terms of quality.

>> No.522954

Disclaimer: Opinion

Define best? If best can be determined by fun factor I would have to say it is a toss up between Goldeneye 007 and Mario Kart 64, as those two games are still great party games I play with my cousins when I see them.

>> No.522975

>>522928
>but on a game by game basis I can find no clear winner in terms of quality.
Do you even realize how much bigger the PSX library is compared to the N64? You're bound to find an actually good game somewhere in there for every single game released on N64 at all. On a "game to game basis", if one system has 100 shitty games and 20 good ones and the other has 10 shitty games and 19 good ones, the first would still come out on top.

Sage because offtopic.

>> No.522993

>>522975
>if

That's a pretty big "if", man. IMHO, there is no clear winner in terms of absolute software quality between the PSX and the N64 if we are to look at a ratio of shitty games:good games.

>> No.523013

>>522993
But it's not the ratio that matters, it's the absolute count of good games. You can just ignore the heaps of shitty games, but you can't just imagine good games into existence.

Turok 3 > Half Life.
Turok 3 > Turok 2.
Turok 3 > System Shock 2.

For a game which was unplayable three months before release, and thus rushed as fuck, Turok 3 is an incredible achievement. It was overshadowed by Perfect Dark and Turok 2 fans whining that the save points weren't spaced 3 hours apart anymore.

The fact it managed to have animated silhouette shadows on NPCs is incredible.

You should try various control options. But if you're unable to use your left thumb for aiming, you're pretty much screwed.

The Dreamcast is the same. Some poeple have sloppy left thumbs.

Use the 1.2 configuration with invert disabled, and just keep practicing in the firing range. Your brain will learn, trust me.

Yea, sure. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark both allow you to disable invert, remove head bob if you wish, and select from a bunch of controller configurations.

Turok 1 and 2 are both inverted, but Turok 3 had a "disable invert" option added weeks from release.

Starfox 64
Bomberman 64 1 & 2

That's all I really care about. Starfox 64 is GOAT. It's hard as fuck on expert mode (well, I play in first-person mode) and has awesome level design with lots of different obstacles and enemies.

There are some others I haven't played but am interested in like F-Zero and Snowboard Kids.

The N64 sucks, unless you like Zelda and 3D platformers. But Zelda is way too easy with simplistic enemy designs and 3D platforming is the worse genre ever in terms of its library due to an utter lack of challenge. Except Super Mario 64 which is okay.

Smash Bros. is good too but is obsolete since Melee came out.

>>529172
I have no idea how Ogre Battle plays but as for Paper Mario, JRPGs are decent at best. You have very few tactical options in them. And don't the Mario RPGs have timed button presses for more damage or something? That's watering down the tactical aspect to emphasis the most simplistic action mechanic ever.
