It bothers me the GB/C games never made it to the west and that the translation projects are so stuck in any of them.
This series is undeservingly obscure.

that's metabee? I know next to nothing about the series other than the old anime.

Yes that's Metabee, the whole game series was a pokemon clone with the gimmick of mixing up parts.

I had one game where it was actually fighting and mixing up the medabots i loved that game and medabots

>> No.5223623

I would not call it obscure.
My dream was that the collection released for 3ds could also come out in the West.

This series is rot.

Was it the GBA one?
>>5223623
Yes, obscure isn't the proper term but what else could be said?
Medabots DS was also a good chance to bring the franchise to the west because it was a soft reboot but if they didn't bring that the collection has even less chances.
It hurts

I played the entire franchise more or less. The GBC games are painfully under-rated because they were never released in the west. Damn shame too.

Medarot 5 suffered from budget and being cut prematurely. You can tell because the game hits you with a sudden credits screen when you aren't even expecting it. Still a fantastic game.

Sounds herculean but amazing, tell me more.

How so? How does the thing go?

Well, I finished all of the main series besides Medarot 9, because I lost interest. Played some of the spin-offs (Navi, Duel, Ax and that one PS1 game) but never beat any of them. They aren't as interesting aside from Navi if you like SRPGs.

The first Medarot game is available with a fan translation on the GBC, I think. I played the Wonderswan version because it had portraits and higher resolution sprites (Funny enough, the sprite resolution from this version is higher than the sprites in ALL of the GB/C games).

Medarot 2-4 are all about Ikki which people know from the anime. The cast are all likeable and there's a lot of nice humor in the games. Lots of crazy stuff going with the lore of the games too. ancient civilizations, aliens and so on

As for Medarot 5, they tried to change the battle system and introduce a new "combo" system that never made a comeback. Kind of hard to work with and slows the game a bit but it's the best looking game from the GBC game.

I don't remember much about the ending because it's been like two years since I played it but basically it just feels like you're midway the game. Your bots aren't very high level yet, there's foreshadowing about a mysterious villain and you're sent off to some area. After that it feels like you're railroaded into the ending sequence with some big boss and then bam credits roll.

Anything added to the collection on 3DS? How’s the emulation?

>> No.5224987

I know nothing about those games except that the music is amazing.

What got you bored?
>They aren't as interesting aside from Navi if you like SRPGs.
Navi is an SRPG? That's more up my alley, I'd totally try it out
>The first Medarot game is available with a fan translation on the GBC,
No games have full translation but the first game has most story bits done.
>Your bots aren't very high level yet, there's foreshadowing about a mysterious villain and you're sent off to some area. After that it feels like you're railroaded into the ending sequence with some big boss and then bam credits roll.
So it's not just rushed but leaves some threads open, what a bummer.

You can either play with a tiny window or scale the screen and it looks pretty blurry. real emulation is better.

>>5225082
>What got you bored?
I was fairly burned out at this point anyway but it's just a pretty boring game. Cast isn't interesting and neither is the story. You can't have your own team of 9 tinpets anymore. For some reason now your character can only have one medarot and the rest of the team is made up from other support characters. You can control them and customize them in a similar way but the game railroads you into picking specific Medarot set ups for each characters and it just annoyed me a lot.

>Navi is an SRPG? That's more up my alley, I'd totally try it out
I haven't played a lot of SRPGs but I wager that it's pretty unique in what it does too. Manages to fit the gameplay elements from the rest of the series and uses them in innovative ways. Like how different parts or effects translate into a grid battle.

>No games have full translation but the first game has most story bits done.
The GBA game which is based on Medarot 2 has been localized at least.

You played them all in a row? I'm surprised you didn't got burned down earlier.
>your character can only have one medarot and the rest of the team is made up from other support characters
That's nice but if they railroad the player then it's too bad.
>I haven't played a lot of SRPGs but I wager that it's pretty unique in what it does too. Manages to fit the gameplay elements from the rest of the series and uses them in innovative ways. Like how different parts or effects translate into a grid battle.
That's sounds amazing, I should really try it out.
>The GBA game which is based on Medarot 2 has been localized at least.
Yes, that's the only Medabots RPG to get a release on the west, the only one you can play out of the box.
