Jesus fucking christ, this video. Super Mario World in 2:36.

So what are your thoughts on tool-assisted speedruns, /vr/?

>> No.521128

tool assisted anything is the equivalent to watching a great game of chess between CPU AI LVL9 vs CPU AI LVL9 o

Hillarious and interesting, hopefully we can have a nice thread without "IT'S NOT DONE BY HAND SO IT'S NOT WATCHABLE" dipshits.

It's more like if you were watching a game of chess where one of the players used an almost completely unknown loophole in the rules to turn four of his pawns into queens by turn three. Bizarre and entertaining.

TA runs have their place sometimes new tricks for natural speed runs can be found in TA runs.

the hell did i just watch?

Someone glitch the hell out of SMW till it gave up and let him win.

>> No.521250

Sort of interesting, but I'd rather see crazy legit stunts pulled off, not weird invisible memory corruption.

>> No.521281

They're an amusing novelty to see just how much you can break a game.

But really, I find legit speedruns to be more entertaining. Less 'spectacular' but more tense and impressive because of the reality of what's happening.

>> No.521289

Heavy glitch abuse is probably my favorite thing about TAS videos. Some of the things people can exploit in order to get the game finished within a smaller time frame is amazing.

>> No.521290

Bugs that frame-perfect input can be fun to watch, which is why I got interested in watching TAS runs to begin with, but when you warp to the end within a minute it ruins everything.

TAS's like OP's aren't fun at all.

I like watching the game crapping itself out. Graphical glitches are a great fun.

Man that was a really great TAS. Programming using TAS precise movement in a game.
