There are too many of them, though if i want to be really cozy, maybe with a hot chocolate while outside is snowing, my first choice would be point 'n' click games, so it's either Broken Sword 1 or 2 (1st is my favorite) or Monkey Island 1 or 2 (this time 2nd would be my favorite)

Based, unironically better than Pokémon. However i have to disagree.
>you want to see your monster win the battles, the errantry and just watch him being happy even though things will not often go as you planned
>for a reason or another, he will run away from home and you'll be desperate to have him back asap because he ended to be like the son you never got
>in the end he dies of old age and so you have to repeat the cycle with another monster, knowing damn well the same thing will happen sooner or later, leaving you in utter despair

I have this distinct memory from my childhood: me, with my dad, playing Captain Comic in the livingroom. Outside the window the sky is bright and sunny, it's a nice cold morning in the winter of 1991/1992.

I still have this game in the original box, I'm not sure if I ever completed it but I know I played it a lot.

Playing Super Mario 2 and eating my moms homemade rice pudding was an extremely chill moment that I'll always remember. It helped that the game was super chill.

Most of the time you'll have to think ingeniously in order to go on with the game, but there are rarer times when you'll get stuck and, if you manage to overcome your obstacles, you'll say "seriously? that's what i needed to do?", but then again, that's pretty rare. My advice would be to play Steam's Special Edition. Before the entirety of /vr/ lynches me, you can play the classic version that way WITH the voice acting (something i've truly appreciated). I say so because if you press 'H' in game, you'll have some hints regarding what you need to do next: first time you see the advice, the thing will be pretty vague, press the button more and it'll become more and more evident. My suggestion would be to not overdo with that feature, because it denatures the point of Monkey Island altogether. I remember that at the time i wasn't so lucky to have even the shittiest internet connection, so our way to play was strenuous trial and error; so, when you manage to finish it solely by your brain power alone, it'll be way more satisfying... One other thing that helped me was not having any kind of distraction, but that's due to how PC functioned back in the day. Having a very little choice of games you could play helped too. But enough with the blabbering, i already said what you should do: either spend a lot of time with the game and enjoy masochistically being stuck (the best advice, but times changed so i don't know if that's applicable for you and for the time you can spend on it), or just use that version with that feature (without overdoing). Just don't use walkthroughs, but that's should go without saying.

Truly a beautiful game, hands down. MI2 is my top favorite point 'n' click game of all times.

Yeah, i mentioned that game too on my previous post, and that Irish pub was the top coziness in the game (Ireland as a whole was, but still). Funny thing, i think me too i would've posted that same image on my post, if it wasn't for Woodtick. Thanks for posting it, anon

I legitimately don't have nostalgia for any 90s games, they are all stuff I played alone when I was bored and it was a very long time ago. I have a ton of nostalgia for early 2000s games, because those are the ones I'd hang out with friends and we'd play all day.

Final Fantasy VIII probably for the heaviest effect. Others are Comix Zone (also has a god-tier soundtrack like FFVIII), Pokemon Red, Genesis and Dreamcast games in general.
