Which are your top 3 favorite genres of gaming and which are your 3 least favorites? I'd like to know the preferences from the people in this board. If you don't mind you can also say why you like/dislike the most about these genres.

My top 3 favorite:
1. Puzzle
2. Survival Horror
3. Adventure/Plataform

My top 3 least favorite:
1. J-rpg/rpg in general (I've been trying for a very long time to get into this genre but I just don't get ir
2. Sports (I don't like them in real life, I don't see why I should like them in virtual world)
3. Fighting (Same with rpg, I just don't like them - they can be fun to play with friends though).

Top 3 favorite
1. Shoot 'em ups (fun and compact challenges)
2. Fighting (fun versus mechanics)
3. Arcade sports like Windjammers (same as Fighting, there just aren't that many that are really good)

Top 3 least favorite
1. RPGs (boring gameplay with no skill involved)
2. Adventure (boring gameplay with no skill involved, doesn't waste your time as much)
3. Simulation (I'd rather play fun mechanics built for a game than an imitation that usually results in boring gameplay with no skill involved)

Everytime.

That's a difficult question. I'd probably say,

1. RPGs (mainly Japanese)
2. Platformers (both 2D and 3D)
3. Horror

Least favorite:

1. FPS (I've never liked these except for Goldeneye)
2. RTS
3. Action games

I don't know fully, but I know that 3D platformers are my favorite and Metroidvanias are my least favorite.

Top 3
1. Platformers(I really enjoy a well put together platformer with good level design and controls.)
2. Real Time Strategy(I love the fact it's not just making choices, but also using your brain while you fight. You scout or you suffer, you take advantage of the terrain or you suffer.)
3. Role Playing Games(Love the genre since you don't beat the game after a day or two of practice, but haven't really had the time to play one in ages)

Bottom 3
1. Fighting(Not a terrible genre, and I do enjoy OMF 2097 and Soul Calibur, but for the most part it's just figuring out how to cheese the CPU or playing the "spam fireball and the same 2-3 moves" game with friends.)
2. Beat Em Ups(I used to love these games as a kid, now the simplistic button mashing bores the hell out of me and makes my hands hurt.)
3. Rhythm games(Why "press button in time with beat" is a genre, I'll never fucking know. I never liked Parappa or anything similar. At least fighting games demand some reflexes and technique.)

Top 3 favorites
1. Sports
2. Racing
3. FPS

I rarely play other genres besides puzzle games here and there. I liked GTA and early Assassins Creed games but that is mostly it.
