This. I never understood tourneyfag logic. If you're really a pro then shouldn't you be able to deal with whatever a game throws at you? Isn't banning things that make the game even the slightest bit challenging kind of a casual babby thing to do? You're not playing the game, you're not really good at the game, you're good at your dumbed down version of the game. You think me and my besty ban anything in our matches or give a single crap about tiers? Hell no. I main Zelda and he mains Jigglypuff, both rock bottom tier characters, and we play with all items on max on all stages at random. We play on stages of our own creation full of all kinds of crazy obstacles and hazards. What do you think happens when we play For Glory? Princess and the Puff fucking mops the floor with everybody. We have never lost a match that I can recall, maybe one or two. Tiers are for queers and tourneyfags have autism.

I'd suggest you talk with your school councilor but it sounds like you're being home schooled in some crazy cult commune.

>> No.5180531

Competitive fags shouldn't dictate how YOU play.

I swear, competitive fags are the worst thing that could've happened to Smash, thinking they can impose their rules and ruining everyone's fun.
Smash is a fucking kids toy and a party game and these fuckers take it as the most serious business in the world, creating cults around controllers and dissing everyone who plays anyone other than Fox or using items.

Yeah, competitive players make me mad.

>> No.5180535

>>5180523
>What he's saying is that luck has no place in competition.
how tragic then that it's literally always a factor! the field isn't the same after you change sides dumbass, the condition of the field itself is already changed by the act of having been played on. it's not about making things fair, it's about lowering the cognitive process of the competition to the level which doesn't make idiots buttmad about their losses, it's about removing the excuse to have an excuse for failure by whatever twisted logic is available.

>> No.5180721

>>5180535
Everything is always changing in some way, my young simpleton. The objective is to mitigate the effect of that as much as possible in competitive games. I'm amazed that you're clueless about this. Even if you were just a nerd you'd understand that this is a thing in competitive play with video games. You must literally sit in your your moms basement playing single player games that give no reward for success of failure. You're a sad pathetic fool.

>> No.5180734

>If you're really a pro then shouldn't you be able to deal with whatever a game throws at you?

The point of a competition is to determine who is the best player. Elements with heavy RNG aspects take away from this, because matches become more about who lucked out with certain item drops or hazard placements. Other stages are banned because they overly centralize the game in an anti-competitive manner. For instance, in Melee stages with side walls are typically banned AFAIK because of how easy it is for Fox to do infinite shine combos knocking someone against the wall over and over again. Nobody wants a metagame where it's nothing but Fox shining people to 999% against a wall the entire match.

If you're suggesting that playing your opponent is what actually matters then how does that not apply to bullshit and mind games in smash? So then I return to my earlier point that smash players are just being salty babies who can't deal with getting played in a match so they make absurd rules to shut down people who will bitch and moan compulsively and make excuses about their failure, rather than to maintain fair competition it's just to get out in front of the bad sportsmanship of the loser who inevitably can't handle the full content of the gameplay and incorporate all such eventualities into their tactical maneuvering and mind games.

It's not fun to play or watch

Balance/ban decisions are made to promote the most competitive viability while retaining the most enjoyable spectator and player experience possible. Watching a competitive match where both players camp a walk off the entire game, or one player with a faster character using certain stage assets to run away and force timeouts, or encouraging the use of a single character isn't very enjoyable, nor is it fun to play
