Which /vr/ town would you live in and why? Narshe's property values are probably super affordable what with the yeti attacks and moogles moving into the neighborhood

Scabb Island, Woodtick. Directly from the best Monkey Island.

>Better than a campfire amidst the nature, alongside your fellow pirates
>Better than Wally's cozy cabin from which you can see the starry sky right above you
>Better than the isolated ship of your bro Captain Dread
>Better than Mad Marty's comfortable laundry, where some other men of low moral fiber talk about this and that while resting
>Better than the Bloody Lip, where a nice monkey plays the piano for you to listen
>Better than chilling on the various bridges of this peculiar mole
>All this while hearing one of the most iconic soundtracks ever, where various wind instruments are alternated in the most beautiful way
I don't know man, i don't know...

Raculi in Lunar 2, but only the Sega CD version where they put cool windmills on giant pod plants and such. Not the generic PS remake where it looks like every other town.

The snowy university town in Star Ocean 2 is peak comfy, I would just stay here all day reading books by the fire and practicing crafting in those magical stone halls.

Who could forget stopping at Lavitz' mom's house with her and Shana making a nice home cooked meal for everybody?

The music's great too, although I like Donau a little better for that but the events in Donau aren't as cozy.

Why are so many JRPGs set in western fantasy worlds? You'd think it'd feel kind of weird to the Japanese players. At least, I know that it's hard for me to get into games that have a feudal Japan style setting, even if it's fantasy and not historical.

lol why, 'western fantasy worlds' didn't fucking exist either, you know, and if you're american you have zero cultural connection to that shit, you should be fantasizing about cowboys

>> No.5177160

>western fantasy worlds don't exist

No shit, genius. But western fantasy is part of modern western culture and heavily influenced by western mythology as well as western historical weaponry, western aesthetics, western politics, etc... Or are you seriously attempting to argue that knights in plate mail armor fighting with swords and shields against a western style dragon in front of a western style castle is remotely Japanese?

Probably just because Tolkien was the face of fantasy in Asia just as much as he was in the west, so it kind of got ingrained in their culture just like here. I mean, elves and dwarfs show up in mythology, but they're described in all kinds of ways, yet every modern rendition of an elf or a dwarf is clearly based on Tolkien's works. There weren't really a lot of authors who focused on fantasy world building prior to Tolkien, so earlier works read more like folktales.

This was my answer too.

Balamb was so comfy. Fisherman’s Horizon, Timber, Deling, Dollet. If it wasn’t for the war then these places would be so great to live in.
