Brutal Doom is the definition of how not to make a mod

What's wrong with it? Haven't pplayed in years.

Earliest version I've played is 19. I thought it was a lot of fun. It's kind of a novelty ... but, in that sense it's just another Doom mod. I don't think it's better than standard Doom, but it's certainly fun and interesting to play.

Complex doom is better.

Is version 21 out yet?

Heaps of blood and guts != good gameplay

Nothing, works fine. I'm not sure who built this mod up as a revolutionary game changer to the disappointed naysayers in this thread, but they were mislead. It's a mod with additional mechanics/weapons and lots of gore, nothing to get mad about.

What do you mean "yet"? It's always been fun. Don't let people dissuade you from playing it. It's just a meme that it's bad

it's fine as long as you're playing on a higher difficulty setting. it's stupid on normal and below, but the more enemies there are the better it is

It’s fun. Not amazing tho some of the guns are crap. Also this should be in the doom general, OP

OP probably wants to talk about Brutal Doom without having shitters jump down his throat. I kinda agree with you but am okay with it staying.

BD was a breath of fresh air. It's not my favorite mod, but I'm not going to act like it wasn't dis-pleasurable to play.

The guy programmed in hitboxes for every enemy so you can get headshots and blow shits legs off. Its Doom+

you could just play complex doom with clusterfuck and lca on ultraviolence you will have a good time with it

When you figure out what works, it won't really push you into trying something else. For some it's a box full of toys and many chances to enjoy your favorites, to others it's every encounter blending into each other after doing the same thing over and over because it gets the job done.
I guess it depends on your personality.

If you haven't actually played it in years, I'll give you the short of it;
Mark has been spinning his wheels for years, basically just updating for the sake of updating, scope creep and feature bloat up the wazoo, adding things just to have something new to show, even if the new things he come up with aren't worthwhile to add.
An example is that there's now like four or five different machineguns, and they don't really differ from each other enough to feel like they have a place in your arsenal, ending up feeling superfluous.
Brutal Doom peaked years ago, and should have been regarded as finished many versions ago.

If an older version still works, I'd suggest playing that. Some like Project Brutality better (I wouldn't know for sure how it differs, I never liked BD or its derivatives enough to play all of them, except for ATM, though that one kind of just vaguely imitates the weapons and throws out a lot of the other stuff).

I never felt Brutal Doom had good gore. The graphic styling and the sound design of it always made it come off as just very cheap and goofy, and out of place with the other graphics.
