Why does Wikipedia have two articles on the exact same game?

So the shitty PSP garbage doesn't taint the original's article.

But I grew up with the garbo engrish translation so it's better!

>> No.5147837

>>5147702
I didn't grow up with it but I still prefer the simple, earnest, and occasionally humorous style to the overwrought, 2deep4u style of wotl. I'd obviously prefer the original not have the mistakes it does, but it's not like I was too dumb to recognize those mistakes and correct them in my head.

WotL also:
>Resurrects Algus
Fanfic-tier bullshit.
>Adds new overpowered classes
Because if there was one thing that FFT needed it was Ramza with swordskill powers.
>Gay cross-promotional insertions of overpowered characters
And Luso is a copy of Ramza but more powerful, with extreme levels of Nomura faggotry as a bonus. Balthier is another cheap hack of existing classes.
>inb4 b..but Cloud
Cloud is the lead character in the most successful Final Fantasy game ever and came out a year before the original. His presence is an Easter egg in the original game and his class is unique and interesting.

The only good thing in WotL did was increase the roster size.

>> No.5147862

there have been many discussions about this. PSP is best version because it corrects gameplay bugs, don't ask me which ones cos I can't remember, neither will I start looking for them on the webs.

None of those glitches are a big deal. The only one that hurts the player and that you might encounter by accident is the jump glitch.

Meanwhile the PSP version introduces a new and awful performance bug that leads to terrible slowdowns for nearly every battle animation in the game.

>> No.5147898

>>5147874
If you ask me the Oil glitch is pretty fucking stupid, but it's not like the status usually gets a ton of use unless your Black Mage accidently a teammate with fire. There's also the Job menu bug, but it's more of a "if you don't like the exploit don't use it" thing.

That PSP bug was carried over to the mobile versions though. It didn't get fixed so much as dodged around.

Yeah the oil glitch sucks but it's rare (in vanilla) to even get that status much less actually be threatened with fire after catching it.

The original translation was truer to the original Japanese text which was intentionally written for a punchy swashbuckling flair, like star wars or the princess bride

all the lengthy monologues and effete flowery language in the wotl is essentially a betrayal of the original characterizations and the intent of the game's design

So to review the list of actual improvements that don't involve gay advertising for shit games like FFTA2 and FFXII and very half-assed attempts to add new original content:

>Expanded Roster
>Oil status that was never a factor anyway actually works now
>Jump glitch that occurs only under rare circumstances that most players never knew about is fixed
>JP Scroll glitch is fixed which is great for people who love grinding JP.
>Class unlocking requirements are raised for people who love grinding JP.

I have no idea idea (not the same poster btw) but it seems the patch in romhacking hardcodes the plugin in the ISO and is based on the 1.1 version of the slowdown fix, and there's a 1.3 version of the plugin on this site

I'm saying Resurrecting Algus is fanfic-tier bullshit (True)
I'm saying Luso is a shitty Nomura design (True)
He and Balthier are lame hacks on existing classes, that people only like because they're more powerful than vanilla. (True)
And serve mostly as cross-promotion for FFXII and FFTA2 (True)
Bonus Classes are pointless additions to the game that amount to little more than a hack you could do in 20 minutes with FFTPatcher. (Mostly True, Onion Knight isn't bad)

You didn't even contradict any of the points and the best you could pull from your ass as commentary "vanilla isn't balanced either."

>I'm saying Resurrecting Algus is fanfic-tier bullshit

If it had been in the original game you wouldn't know the difference, half the characters become zombies/Lucavi after dying or becoming mortally wounded.

>You didn't even contradict any of the points and the best you could pull from your ass as commentary "vanilla isn't balanced either."
Just don't even bring up overpowered shit if you're not prepared to acknowledge that the game is already broken and gives you half a roster of unique sword-based characters, each of whom can inflict more crippling damage/status than the next. Two wrongs don't make a right, but they don't unbalance the scales.

The rest of these points don't change the fabric of the game, they just gave you extra shit to play with, take it or leave it. Complaining that the new classes just lift skills from other classes runs contradictory to hating newer designs, because inevitably new spell animations, etc. would stick out like sore thumbs.

>And serve mostly as cross-promotion for FFXII and FFTA2
I don't really understand how this is like a "downside" in particular, it's just kind of a plain fact.
