My current main television is an old plasma.

It's a good television, i haven't upgraded because I like to play my ps1 / n64.

But i'm feeling the pull of the newer 4k televisions. Unfortunately they only have hdmi input.

Is there any good way of circumventing that problem?

I have never owned a plasma, but the ones I have seen blow the doors off of any LCD.

Plasma, yuck. I'd take an OLED over plasma any day.

Abortion in the 12*3+3 trimester would be the best option but most places don't allow it. KFC used to have a great program to help mentally disabled kids to earn minimum wage while spilling shit all over the customers. If it's still going that would let you pay a maxican to haul a real screen from your neighbors curb to your room. Or you could just go into a tard rage rant about how I want I want I want. It doesn't work as well as it used to but worth a try.

Two options really.
Keep your old TV and just use that for old games, or go down the road towards upscaling autism.

your old tv has move value and use for your old composite devices, why would you need to replace it when you could just have both

Not much choice nowadays.

I'd put my two KRP-500s up against any OLED you care to mention though. They're seriously good.

Are you sure you meant oled and not lcd? Sure plasma kicks LCDs ass, but OLED > plasma in picture quality, not only because it's not like running a 1000W heater in your living room.

Where I live any extra heating is good, saves running the central heating system. Also I haven't seen a similarly priced OLED anywhere near comparable in quality. In fact I haven't seen a similarly priced OLED full stop.

Plasma mimics CRT image structure quite closely in my experience and that suits me just fine.

Don't fall for it. No games run at 4k and therefore have to be upscaled. Upscaling causes artefacts and/or blurriness on modern displays.
>Is there any good way of circumventing that problem?
Use a CRT or if you're using a new TV then just emulate.
>>5137757
Converters are utter garbage.
>>5137789
Plasma still has its advantages. OLED has plenty of flaws. Nothing is perfect. No matter what type of panel you choose you're going to be compromising.

Fair point re price.

>>5138963
Plasma
>dimmer
>bigger dot pitch
>similar burn-in to OLED
The only advantage i know of is plasma is still cheaper, though theyre second-hand only at this point. Of course OLED isn't some holy grail, i agree microLED is the most promising (and there is a huge amount of $ going to it's development). Besides CLED there are multiple companies researching their own microLED tech. They won't be available for a while yet, and it's going to be a decade before theyre where OLED is now price-wise, considering we've had OLED on the horizon for over a decade now.

Just keep a small old CRT for old games and use the 4K for the new ones.

>> No.5141216

>>5139187
They sure are dimmer, and not perfect regarding burn in, but later plasmas don't really suffer from burn in at all. On top of that, most plasmas have better motion than OLED owing to the odd way of displaying frames, using a 600hz process rate in the later models. I'm a big fan of OLED myself but I'd rather watch films on my plasma.
