Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure > Original Pitfall as a cheat code

Day of the Tentacle > Maniac Mansion can be played in a in-game computer

Super Mario Bros. 3 > An enhanced version of Mario Bros remade in the game engine is used for competitive shenanigans between players in 2-player mode

Also idk if it counts, but Broken Sword 1 had Arkanoid integrated into the installer, back when doing that hadn't been patented by some assholes

Both Pac-Man the New Adventures and Pac-Man World included the original Pac-Man game

Pool isn't a retro game though, OP is looking for retro games within another retro game.
>>5106203
Apparently, there's a zx spectrum emulator in the rom, it may be the same one that's implemented in DK64 later. Possibly they were trying to get the licence for putting The Living Daylights or another James Bond Spectrum game on it. It would be a lot harder to make some random game like Jetpac make sense with Goldeneye the putting it in an arcade in a game like donkey kong 64... James Bond isn't going to stand around playing games.

Not sure if it's strictly "retro", but on Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 on Gamecube you could unlock the old Star Wars Arcade games.

Also, the NES games within Animal Crossing. That was the first I played NES games because emulators weren't as good or as consistent back then. It was pretty cool at the time, especially as those same NES games were being sold on GBA in a line called "NES Classics" that was £20 a pop. Or, just unlock them in Animal Crossing.

>especially as those same NES games were being sold on GBA in a line called "NES Classics" that was £20 a pop.

That always rubbed me the wrong way even as the big Nintendo fan I was back then, selling emulated NES roms for £20 a pop to kids in the early 2000s, what a con. They were selling Metroid for £20 and an emulated version is already in Metroid Zero Mission.

No, apart from Xevious, they've had their aspect ratio refitted for the GBA's widescreen.

The most interesting thing about Rogue Squadron 3 is that you can only unlock Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back through regular play, Return of the Jedi can only be unlocked via cheat code. I only found out last month.

>Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure > Original Pitfall as a cheat code
Sorry to be a stickler, but I remember that this wasn't a cheat code back when I owned the game. It was a warp from a level. From GameFAQs:
>In Level 4 (Ruins) you will see an Scorpien from the Original Pitfall on a platform with a door. Use the idol's tounges [sic] to get up to higher ground and jump down onto the platform. Go in the door, run to the left hand wall and you will hit a hidden spring. You will go flying through a fake wall. Run to the right and down the portal.

>Now you are playing the original Pitfall.

Hello Pacman!/Pacman 2: The New Adventures let's you play the original Pacman arcade game as well. You can also play one of its arcade sequels when you've done the famicom cart collecting sidequest, namely Pac Junior or Ms. Pacman depending if you're playing the Megadrive or the SNES version of the game.

Yeah, and there were even a few NES games that couldn't be unlocked through regular gameplay, Punch-Out!! being one. If you have the right code you give it to Tom Nook and he gives you the game. I remember someone on GameFAQs came up with a code generator that gives you a code corresponding to your name and that's how I played Punch-Out!! for the first time. Also my first experience with any kind of keygen, a few years before I discovered what piracy was.

Huh, does this work?
I thought to get certain games (like SMB, Punch-Out) you needed a gameshark or something.
I guess it's time to boot up my old village today. Hope they're still alive.
