Honest question, what reason is there to own an NES anymore?

Excluding the obvious Nintendo classics and the occasional konami/namco/capcom properties everyone loves, Almost every single one of those has been updated, remastered, ported, or compiled in some form of compilation.

Ultimate NES remix has every worthwhile Nintendo NES game, Mega man has the Legacy collections, Castlevania has the chronicles games, and other compilations, Metal gear is included in the legacy collections on PS3. And every single namco arcade classic has been compiled in some form of namco museum or some other. Hell even Midway and atari have classic compilations, so even their NES ports are out.

Honestly asking here, I'm scraping the barrel trying to find reasons for owning this ancient relic anymore. SMB3? I can just play the SNES all-stars version, or hell, the GBA port, or the wii port OF all-stars. Even fucking metroid is on the GBA.

That seems like a good number of reasons

Yeah but they're no longer NES exclusive. Thats my point. they all exist on some future console that has a better reason to exist. Keeping the NES for those games seems silly when you can just play them on those other consoles, or hell, emulate them on a PC or phone . But I'm talking purely physical here, so.

you're on a retro board complaining and looking for reasons to not have one of nintendo's first consoles. how many fucks do you seriously think we have for this level of zoomer retardation? if you've guessed more than one fuck was given, then that's the wrong answer. real hardware is king, emulation is for faggots.

>> No.5103701

>>5103698
I'm not talking emulation. I'm talking actual remakes and remasters, which exist for almost all of those games. Why own 32 bulky NES carts when you can own like 8-10 discs? Like I said, Mega man in its entirety is on one switch cart now. that entirely nulifies owning 6 NES games, 1 SNES game, 1 PS1 game, and 2 digital PS3 games. Its just silly in this day and age.

Honest answer, just for the sake of having an original NES.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's better or worse than emulation here and neither do I imply something has to be useful or contain some inherent quality. It's just fun to have and boot up once in a while and if you don't like to have one well good for you, whether you want to own one in person is your own choice anon. Nobody's going to force you to get one if you'd rather play its classics on something else.

NES Batman

Shatterhand

Kickle Cubicle
Lolo series
Captain America
Journey to Silius
Wizards and Warriors
Faxanadu
Metal Storm
Commando
Jackal
Gun.Smoke

Honestly the NES is better than the SNES. It's the SNES that isn't necessary, as better platformers are on NES and Genesis and better RPGs are on PSX.

Also in willow your sword swings start out slow and clumsy. As you level up and get better swords your reach and swing speed improve. You "earn" better play control over time, which is interesting since you start out as a novice.

Also the wind picks up and music changes when evil shit emerges. I always liked that aspect of it. I believe this may be the first console game of it's type to feature something like that.

Yes you can. The 1959 version was more spectactular than the previous one, in color, in 65mm ultrapanavision, with sound, longer and on a grander scale. The 1925 version otoh was superior to the 1907 version. They should of at least made this new version even more spectacular.
