Thinking about buying this for $6.95, is it worth it?

I haven't played it but I vaguely recall a magazine saying it was good and I see that now there's a remake, but I prefer retro.

I honestly liked the Master System version of Castle of Illusion more. It is almost a completely different game. But the one on the Genesis/ MD is absolutely worth putting in your collection. It's a great game overall. One of the better early platformers on the console.

I remember being amazed by the game the day I got it then dissapointed when I beat it that same day. $50 down the drain. I think this was the game that taught me to rent platformers and only buy RPGs and Fighting Games.

I would probably think it was easy as fuck if I was using save states but I'm trying to play it as originally intended. Having only 2 continues is rough. Furthest I've gotten so far is the boss at the end of the clock tower who jumps and swings a sword at you. He kept blocking my attacks, the bastard.
