Are there any Famiclones still made with discrete chips, or are they all NOACs nowadays?

Can I use regular NES cartridges (or even a flashcart) on these things?

>> No.5082851

>>5082849
You can use regular Famicom cartridges. NES cartridges would require an adapter.

>> No.5082968

>>5082756
There's one on aliexpress that's being currently manufactured, but it's 50hz unfortunately.
>>5082851
Yeah, just need an adapter for NES games. Flash carts are really hit or miss on NOAC hardware.

It's a Famiclone built into a keyboard to fool parents into thinking it's educational. Typically feature some variant of Family BASIC to sweeten the deal.

The problem is more that you have no access to the low level functions of the famiclone although even if you did yeah it would suck not to be able to save

The PolyStation was THE famiclone here in Chile. I knew at least 4 people who had one, and pretty much everyone who plays games knows what they are.

Those were also real Famicom clones, not just "NES on a chip" like the later ones.

>> No.5084810

>>5084783
Those usually have a clone of Family BASIC and some shitty pseudo-Win gui with equally shitty "educational" titles built in, that's what the keyboard is used for. Might be useful to homebrew that uses the Family Basic keyboard but I'm not sure if those exist.

I had that pic related with the same cartridge too (mine was yellow though). 5/5 breddy good had a lot of fun with it, literally the only console I owned in my entire life. Too bad it broke after a year or so.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean but I have thought about modifying it so you can play games with WASD. As it is, the keyboard only works with the apps made for it and no you can't plug it into a computer and use it as a keyboard.
