/vr/, I'm doing a game art project and I wanted to remake an old low poly environment and give it a modern treatment. I'm currently thinking about doing Pioneer 2 from Phantasy Star Online. I'm trying to go with something pretty small as I just want some good practice in making trim sheets and lighting, so even Pioneer 2 might be a bit much. If any of you have any ideas of environments that might be fun to see in a higher resolution I'd be interested in seeing them. Alternatively, yeah like the title says just in general some nice or interesting rooms or spaces that really stuck with you from older games.

I'm not sure you'll have much luck with this here, OP. Anyway, how about the spaceship corridors from Enemy Zero? 3D artists sure love their spaceship corridors

What are "trim sheets" by the way?

Trim sheets are textures comprised of multiple tiling strips or trim. These sheets often include small visual accents like collections of screws or panels that the 3d artist can position around their meshes. For next gen stuff, artists will often use two UV channels, one with the often texel inconsistent trim sheet, the other with a 4-way tiling texture to mask the artifacts that the trim sheet might cause.

That's the reason 3d artists like corridors is that they're really easy to break down, and the reason this guy was able to make this environment using one 256x512 texture.

Do Pioneer2 but only the hospital or shop section, hell, even the guild counter would be nice since it's where most people go to.

well, most of the ones I really like are pre-rendered, so they already look pretty good, or not (like vault 15 from fallout 1) and would be fairly boring to look at

the portal to the nihilanth from half-life 1 from teh top of my head
halflife has a lot of cool rooms
