What was the first game that you played to Genuinely freak you out.

I'll start with a Cliché: Lavender Town, i remember hearing all this stuff about Gary's Raticate and Cubone and every time i walked through that zone, There were constant chills running down my back.

Played this when I was 13 or 14, after completing Silent Hill 3 for the first time. Figured it would be a walk in the park.

God I want to play that so fucking bad.

Just realized this is not retro at all. So lets talk about a slightly spooky /vr/ moment- Resident Evil 1. The hall with Cerberus jumping through the window. I literally screamed out loud. I was probably around 10 or 11 when I played it the first time, way too young for that shit. It really scared me, but no lasting effects like Fatal Frame. Oh, and the first Zombie encounter is traumatizing. But nothing that "freaked me out"

>> No.507350

>>507342
It's either the first zombie or the cerberus that gets you. Both of them are probably the most iconic scenes in the series.

Ocarina of Time. I was 8 when it came out and renting it. There was another file on the cart but I was content with messing around on my file.

Well, after getting the second Spiritual Stone, I decided to check out the other file, because it was a -lot- farther than I was.

>Holy shit, you grow up? And there's a secret room in the Temple of Time?
>Go outside OH MAN WHAT HAPPENED
>See what I thought was a villager, decide to go talk to them to see what happened.

Then the Redead screamed at me and I leaped across the room and slapped at the power button on the N64. It took me weeks to rent it again, and I never wanted to get older in OoT because I didn't want the town people to turn into Zombies.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who laughed at the intro movie, the voice acting, and nearly shit themselves when they walked around the corner to see this guy.

>opening movie looks shitty
>intro music sounds horrible
>I'm an idiot behind the steering wheel
>looking for daughter
>alley
>lights out, raid siren, blood, freakout

That game scared the crap out of me and then I got to the hospital. The first nurse I saw made me pause the game and run to the console to turn it off. I didn't try again for weeks and even considered giving the game away. When I finally started replaying it though, I would only play in the day time and with my curtains wide open on a sunny day.

The new games have sexy nurses but the original ones made my blood go cold.

Silent hill 1 and everything about it.
From the part when those little guys attack you in the back street, walking down empty streets, exploring empty houses and buildings.
I was absolutely horrified of the school part, but somehow managed to push on until i got to the hospital.
As a child i've spent many years in hospitals because of my lung problems and when that part came on it hit me like a truck, i was literally freaking out and didn't beat the game until a year later.
