What are the odds that Sega makes a Dreamcast Classic to compete with Nintendo and Sony. And What games would be included?

It's shit if there's no VMU

>What are the odds
Pretty good but don’t hold out hope for a Saturn
>What games
These are really likely I think:
Crazy Taxi 1/2
Jet Set Radio
Code: Veronica
Space Channel 5
Sonic Adventure
Skies of Arcadia
Chu Chu Rocket!
Sega Bass Fishing
Virtua Tennis
Soulcalibur

And these could also be included:
Sonic Shuffle
Power Stone
A 2K title
Ready 2 Rumble
Bangai-O
Blue Stinger
Hydro Thunder
Illbleed (I have no idea what the legal feasibility of this is)
And probably a handful of other arcade games that have the best ports on DC

Sadly there are a few games that are well known on DC which probably wouldn’t make it because of the peripherals they encourage/require (HOTD2/TOTD, Samba de Amigo, Seaman)
And I think a few have been so successful after being ported elsewhere they might not make it, but it’s not impossible (Sonic Adventure 2).

Time will tell.

Would you really be interested in that given that they haven't been able to make a competent Genesis Mini for almost 20 years?

this, their throwback releases have been fucking garbage.

They'd proba ly have AT games do it, and it would suck.

They'd be better off just sticking to software compillations.

A master system/gamegear collection with a metric fuckton of games
Do one more genesis collection that has ALL sonic games in it (for fuck sakes)
Do a saturn collection, featuring localizations of a ton of JP only games.
A dreamcast collection with a decent line up and not just the same 4 fucking games again.
Do a nice, big collection of classic sega arcade games.

Call them sega classic collections, sell them for $40 a piece and be done with it already.

They could launch them for all platforms and PC, and beat out nintendo and dony by selling their shit on their consoles.

Actually.. it appears that Sega has dropped At Games from doing the current mini Genesis/MD. so hopefully they are on their way out.

They have given no attention nor support to old intellectual property like Virtua Fighter, and have made no attempt to enter the console market.
Why would they rerelease an old console?
There's no chance of it.

>> No.5062048

They're never going to design and produce something like that on their own, we can only hope for Sega to pitch some kind of fan-made project.

>> No.5062052

sega is not the one that makes them

No shit, that's how business models work. They still chose to license out for a shit-tier shoddy product. Why you think this would change and a theoretical DC throwback wouldn't have the problems of the genesis throwback is beyond me.

Not going to happen. Sega is shit.

Yeah, they remade the black Dreamcast controller and it had no VMU...

Are there even enough DC games to make one? Most of the games got better releases on Gamecube or Xbox right?

It's crazy how the mad men did this, but the best part is how the logo is actually an OLED screen playing the boot animation.

>> No.5062221

The problem is that todays kids dont even know 95% of the games on this list. Sega has been a bad custodian of its franchises and has left most of it to rot for the past decade. Their old fanbase is also not getting any younger, and a product like this cannot bank entirely off nostalgia without younger people also being interested.

not to mention the big elephant in the room - people havent been into arcade fames for the past two decades, and stuff like crazy taxi or hotd have 5 minutes worth of gameplay. its one of the big reasons why the dreamcast flopped. sega struggled to make the transition to meaningful console quality content.

as for saturn, zero chance - most of the games on it have aged poorer than the average ps1 game, they look like absolute dogshit, and the system was regarded as a failure in the west. sega probably wants to do its best to pretend it never happened

>> No.5062242

Absolutely no hope whatsoever. They're not a hardware company anymore, they're software only.

At the right price, the 30 minute gameplay arcade length quality to the library can be overlooked.

The issue is that in modern times, online multiplayer has filled the niche that pick-up-and-play arcade-style games used to fill.

Nintendo will prove that wrong with N64 Classic, let them do it first so normies will listen up

>> No.5062273

If it was put together with quality parts it would be awesome, but I doubt it's worth the risk considering the DC seems to be a niche console and Sega should have learned by now not to gamble.

a plug'n'play box that played PSO with wifi would break the state. They could honestly make it happen by repacking some $10 budget androids.

zero. Any games worth a damn have been ported. So many games came out to take place of shitmue so a classic wouldn't matter. If they were smart they'd release a saturn mini loaded with jap arcade shit.

No need for a DC Classic. All we need is a Psikyo collection with Gunbird 2, Zero Gunner 2 and Cannon Spike; and a G-rev compilation with Border Down and Under Defeat.
