Shill harder, these are all part of various 'stretch goals' hidden in the HTML source which are likely to get added if they get close to the amounts required (which are completely retarded and never going to happen):

LEVEL 7: BASIC SOCIAL NETWORK ($2.25mil)
"Make a profile, create a friends list, chat with other users on Polymega"

LEVEL 8: CHEATS DATABASE ($2.5mil)
"A digital cheats database will be implemented for supported systems."

LEVEL 9: EM07: COLECOVISION MODULE SET ($3mil)
"The Classic Colecovision system will receive a worldwide module release on Polymega"

LEVEL 10: ADVANCED SOCIAL NETWORK ($3.25mil)
"A fully integrated social network for sharing your screenshots and game videos to other players on your Polymega"

LEVEL 11: SIDEBAR APPS ($3.5mil)
"A new application ecosystem will be created that allows you to create and share custom per-game widgets for on-screen tools like timers, strategy guides, tweaks, translations and more."

LEVEL 12: EM08: GAMEBOY MODULE SET ($4mil)
"The Classic Gameboy (GBA/GBC/GB) systems will receive a module release on Polymega"

LEVEL 13: ACHIEVEMENTS SYSTEM ($4.25mil)
"An Achievements System will be implemented to Polymega so you can share your accomplishments with friends and followers."

LEVEL 14: NETPLAY MATCHMAKING ($4.5mil)
"Starting with select games, go head-to-head with other players using Polymega’s online Matchmaking and Netplay service. Create game lobbies, invite friends, and see who’s best."

LEVEL 15: EM09: SEGA MASTER SYSTEM MODULE ($5mil)
"The Classic Sega Master System will receive a worldwide module release on Polymega"

LEVEL 16: TOURNAMENT NETPLAY ($5.25mil)
"Create and participate in tournaments using Polymega’s Matchmaking service"

LEVEL 17: PHILIPS CD-I SYSTEM ($5.5mil)
"The Classic Philips CD-i System will be playable on Polymega"

LEVEL 20: NINTENDO 64 MODULE ($8mil)

This would be useful, but hopefully it wouldn't looked cluttered. A few of those should already come with the shit

>LEVEL 17: PHILIPS CD-I SYSTEM ($5.5mil)

There's more? Fucking christ, they have to be delusional to think this is going to secure more than 8 million. They'd succeed if only 32,000 people preordered the base unit, but going off their current numbers, only around 1700 people have preordered this thing and they claim it's gonna go retail. The Polymega is going to die a horrible death

>> No.5045410

These systems are fascinating. Every time one is anounced all of reddit pre-orders and then they're shocked when it ends up being a gigantic piece of shit.

Kevtris' most recent thoughts on the Polymega (after they dropped the FPGA/'hybrid emulation' plan):

>They've strayed pretty far from the original gameplan and are trying a hail mary pass to see if they can make a final go of it. I just think it's too little, to late. The current design is just a wishful thinking exercise IMO. I would like to see how they are going to remove 40W of heat from that little enclosure. Their previous version at E3 was overheating and was probably running on their original specs (SOC). A desktop CPU in that small box with no cooling will make a dandy coffee cup warmer I guess if nothing else.

Also it is something new in a collecting hobby centered around old stuff. Collectors hungry for new things they haven't seen before and something that they can just buy as a new product probably latch onto these consoles and modern cartridge rereleases (like the recent SFII and MMX cart). I admit that I thought Unholy Night could've been cool (and at least has nice packaging), but this stuff really just doesn't properly fit in a true old game collection.

>> No.5045569

The fact that all the gameboys isn't a default attachment kind of blows my mind.

Although it also kind of amazes me no one has made FGPA consoles for all the GB's yet. If SNES is possible i'd assume gb/gbc/gba should be about as difficult

A small handfulof really poorly 200px stretched jpg asset timers made in Lua or javascript that you cannot move or resize out of the way.
Hardly useful.

It should focus on not being shit and doing a core set of features really well. It won't do a single thing correctly because they've already bet the farm on doing a billion things at once.

I find hard it hard to believe that they are capable of creating these emulators on their own, for instance the n64 still hasn't had really accurate emulation after 20 years and these people think they are going to make one in about a year or so and they also want to recreate xbox live too.

After the uproar over the Retron 5 and Retroarch devs bitching about their GPL software being used in commercial products (which is expressly permitted in the GPL), I don't think any company that isn't a sketchy fly-by-night Chinese outfit will pull that again.

Retron’s only legal obligation is to publish the source code of any GPL software used in their product, which would give RetroArch their credit. Beyond that there’s nothing RA can do.

Same reason the Arcade1up pre-orders are selling out all over; even though they're complete trash. Smaller than a Japanese sit-down cab, the marquee is at crotch level on me. Spend less on a cheap pandora box knockoff console on eBay and get more games and can use it on a better display, or just emulate on PC and get an arcade stick if you're cheap.
Same with the little handheld cabs that run romhacks on a NOC. I collected some just for fun, but they are pretty useless.

It hasn't been done today because it's more convenient to just get a cheap mobile device (whether it be a PSP or something else) and load it with emulators than to lug around and play on something that's pretty much as big as a laptop but is essentially a clusterfuck fami and mega clone.
