That would be it right there. I didnt really care for Spider-Man all that much (outside of the Hob-Goblin) before I played a demo of this back in the 4th grade. I played the fuck out of that demo too.

I was instantly a spidey fan after that.

This is the best, but the sequel wasn't that good, despite having overall the same gameplay.

The arcade beat em up. No, not MC, the actual arcade game. I'm still amazed they haven't fashioned that into a modern experience over Side Quests 2000 that most of these games are. Then again, the whole standard for the fanbase is based on swinging, the rest of the game be damned.

This is by far the best one. Even the sequel sucked balls in comparison, some stages were uninspired and the humor had nothing on 1's.

The sequel is shit, it wasn't even made by the same people. Knew this even back then without a doubt.

Spider-Man 2, the movie game. I realise it's the popular choice, but it's also the correct one. It's one of few open-world games where just going off and fucking about feels REWARDING, rather than just like wasting time.

I mean outside of the vs games and the PS1 games what really is there? Maximum Carnage? I don't see that one talked about much. The PS1 games were good before the PS2 ones came. I think Spider Man has one of the best track records for good superhero games. Most of his games are at least decent with many being surprisingly good. Counting all games he appears in.
