I only started playing yesterday so there's only a couple of things I can really comment on.

>+It's good
>+You can go to future hospitals, unlock new stuff, then return to previous hospitals and use that future stuff

>-WHY THE FUCK IS RIGHT CLICK "SELL OBJECT"? IT'S INGRAINED INTO ME THAT RIGHT CLICK IS ROTATE
>-One of the level objectives in particular for getting higher star hospitals kind of expects you to come back to the hospital at a later time with a bigger selection of rooms. I beat the 2nd hospital pretty comfortably with a level 5 hospital, but it didn't want to give me the 3rd star until I'd reached hospital level 10. I was building luxurious staff rooms and toilets in vacant buildings that nobody will ever use for the better part of an hour just to raise my prestige and hospital level.

>> No.5022542

>>5022378
Oh right, two more things to add:
>+There's quite a lot of freedom with room sizes, you can have odd sized rooms that don't have to be square at all and can fill almost any gap, you can also have quite a lot of freedom over which people use which rooms - like setting only certain types of people to use some specific toilets or staff room, or which staff are allowed to do which tasks if you want to keep a certain doctor only working in the GP's office or whatever

>-No longer do you get useage counters on things like drinks machines or anything else, so you can't tell how active a given room or area is without watching it yourself at all times

There's fast coasters IRL, however they generally go straight or through oversized and banked turns.

Here's a point-of-view of El Toro, the only wooden coaster in the world that match the max speed of your coaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocekc_o9HPc
Notice how it travel straight over several big airtime hills, loosing speed, before it turn at all? Then it perform its first banked turn at the top of a hill before another couple of airtime hills before it gets twisty and turny.

If your hospital has a bad bottleneck, everything will feel awful as you'll have 30 patients milling around one area, pissing in the corridors and dying. Once you pass the critical threshold and add everything you didn't realise you needed, suddenly it feels like you have very few patients in your hospital any more as 80% or more of the people who walk in your door are cured in under a month.

You basically just want to close off paths that aren't near your rides when dealing parks with long reaching path systems already. Though don't be too afraid to expand out, as having rides distant from each other will mean guests will be spread out more, meaning they won't complain about the paths being crowded as much. It also looks better for your rides to give them space.

I think it should only affect Windows NT derivatives.

I think its shows up on RCT and RCT2 (and possibly Locomotion as well) in particular because they're written in assembly. I guess Chris was doing clever tricks with the memory which Windows NT doesn't like. DEP is a security feature to prevent regions of memory that store data from being usable to run executable code which prevents a whole range of exploits.

OpenRCT2 and OpenLoco should be immune to these errors though because the compiler should know not to do weird stuff with the memory.

I like scenarios that give you some sort of unusual objective and i don't mean just some challenging scenario goal. (Im looking at you, Loopy Landscapes).

So ivory towers was my favorite in original because it was a trashed park that you needed to fix up. Loved Dinky park too since you were forced to expand to be successful (I know it's possible without, but thats the idea).

This is why i loved Corkscrew follies the most, because the scenario goals were pretty standard, but they threw all these twists into them to make them interesting like Rotting heights, Fiasco forest, Urban park, Sprightly park, and then introducing the coaster challenge in only ONE park with Coaster crazy.

After that i felt like loopy landscapes was a bit dull, everything was too straight forward

I'll personally throw in my recommendation for SC3000 as it's a lot more newbie friendly.

In 3000 there's four undesirable buildings you can get offered that you'll be paid X amount monthly to simply have in your city with power and water, (for example the securimax prison) which you simply keep away from your normal city so their effects of lowering the local land value or increasing crime rate won't matter too much for you. Simply having one of them in your city gives enough money to keep a fledgling city alive, and once your city is big and stable enough that the money it gives you is only a fraction of your monthly income you can simply get rid of it.

The best tip I can give you for building a big working city is "Rome was not built in a day."
Keep it simple with low and medium density zoning until high density (wealthy) zones are desired, and especially build as few government facilities as possible - you definitely don't need perfect fire station coverage or your sims to receive higher education until your city is much bigger to handle it, and reduce funding on everything except roads so you can pinch a few pennies. Before you know it, you'll get the idea of what you have to do.

>figure out your lowest and highest total elevations
>on each of your 512x512 tiles make a needle to the max height and a narrow hole to the lowest height.

If this doesn't work I'll try to figure something else out for you.

Why play Nu-WoW when you could play Warcraft 4?

Warcraft 4 dosen't exist? Wrong. The spirit of Warcraft lives in the Ultimate Battle modification for War3.

Along with the original 4 races (Alliance, Horde, Night Elves, Scourge)

you can also play as
Fel Orc, Draenei, High Elf, Dalraan
Lost Ones, Scarlet Crusade, Worgen, Dark Iron Dwarves, Illidari, Nightborne, Forsaken, Fel-Elf, Blood Elf, Faceless Void, Defias Brotherhood, Satyr Legion, Vilefin Murlocs, Pandaria, Twilight Cabal, Jungle Troll, Dwarf, Bloodscale Naga, Lightforged Draenei, PROTOSS, TERRAN AND ZERG

all with custom models, buildings and heroes!

Mod is still actively being worked and 24 of those 26 races are currently playable. It has received both a major balance patch and a bug-hotfix in the last month

This modification is for 1.2.7, not for Battle.net. Find it on Hive!

Pirate War3 and have the experience the community always deserved!

in this game, I am euphoric. The ultimate gaming experience. the wild-wild west. No Meta, No Mods, Just Merit

also, Pro tip: Scarlet Crusade and Dark Irons have the best base building mechanics, though Nightborne bases are the most beautiful

Fujiyama at Fuji-Q was by far the best but it did get a little silly at the end by taking turns at a quick speed and while featuring no head support.
Bandit at Yomiuriland nearly snapped my spine thanks to a stupidly placed helix near the first drop. Webm related. It's also the worst for legroom and it's the only coaster I've been on where they make you take your bag with you on the ride. Pure stupidity.
The only other one was Ultra Twister at Nagashima Spa Land but I didn't feel like my nausea could take it that day so I skipped it. If I had known it was a TOGO I would have braved it but then I might not have lived to tell the tale.

Do any of you have season passes or anual passes for any themeparks?
I have a year pass for “Efteling” and “Toverland” in the Netherlands.
Both are a 30 minute drive away for me.

Efteling is home to a B&M Dive coaster and a GCI Woodie, a few old Vekomas and a few amazingly themed dark rides.

Toverland also has a GCI Woodie, a Mack Spinning coaster, two Vekomas and a new B&M Wing coaster.

No. However I usually visit one of my local parks here in Sweden at least once a year. Got to ride my first B&M Dive coaster at Liseberg this year, the vest restrains and queue system were atrocious but the ride itself was nice.

I was recently in the Netherlands and visited Walibi. I want to visit both Efteling (mostly for the theming desu) and Toverland but it will have to be some other time. Toverlands new coaster looks amazing, the colour and "jump" over the river is really striking.

I'm not to fond of their current flats, they were better a couple of years ago. The roller coasters are a little "safe" if the word makes sense but both Helix and Balder are close to perfect desu. The only thing they really lack is something like a hyper coaster and with them expanding the park next year and 100 year anniversary coming up in a couple of years another big investment seems likely.

On a less dour note, the rides are pretty good. Goliath, the hypercoaster, has the best helix I've experienced. Tatsu and Ninja, the flying and suspended coasters, are both of an uncommon family and solid fun. Twisted Colossus, the RMC hybrid, would be great if the 30 airtime hills didn't make me nauseous. Scream, the B&M floorless, is surprisingly rough - it seriously feels closer to a Vekoma and it isn't even that old.

I don't think X2 will ever be usurped as the star of the show, though. It's a wild experience of being thrown around like a ragdoll and I find it absolutely hilarious.

I did like Walibi, mostly thanks to the rides desu. The general theming was a mess, the most extreme example being Sherwood Forest + American military base + zombies in the same area. Newer again will I feel bad about slapping down random scenery items in RCT. They had great snacks but were lacking when it comes to more substantial meals.

I would rate the coasters as follows:
Goliath
Lost Gravity
Xpress: Platform 13
Speed of Sound
Robin Hood
El Condor

Unfortunately I did not have time to ride all the flats because the opening hours were kinda short. Got to ride an Enterprise for the first time in my life however, it was awesome.

Planet Coaster is like the cities skylines of the coaster/park genre in that it's focused more on allowing you to express your creativity than about minute management. So if you're asking for a source of creativity I would recommend checking out videos on youtube. I personally enjoy robbaz's crazy animal theme park. In what capacity? Given the focus of this game, it's going to take considerably longer to build anything, since the game deliberately genericizes every building and ride so you can use them as the canvas for your own distinct style.

If you're talking about management, simply build a few flat rides and a small coaster, and never worry about money ever again. Seriously I was making $9,000 a month with two flat rides and two coasters, one of which was a really generic, and probably cheap layout, though it was the first scenario.

As for coasters, prioritize speed, airtime, and inversions, though I think it depends on the type of ride. Build something, test it, and see what point of the ride gives the best ratings. And again, remember that ratings are lower by default due to the nature of the formula.

With OTTD you get a basic look. it's dull for me but it's a standard.
What I hate about OTTD is the extreme fast passage of time. In Simutrans it's still fast as fuck but at least the hour system makes it look better.
Simutrans just feel more real and more autismo and guess that caters to my needs. Both are good games.

I once got colonial charter set up, found a decent small mountainous seed and started to plan a comfy min/max layout, but the minutia of exact building positions bogged me down and it got abandoned.

Fair enough. But it took a long time compared to my estimate. Anyway, only one building and some foliage left to build, I'll probably have time to do it tomorrow night. Since the collab document is locked I guess I'll just upload the file and post the link here in the thread. You'll have to communicate about who goes next.

It's the (old) Vekoma style. B&M have the riders face the ground in the lift.

How do I make log flumes have steep drops like Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom, in open rct?

>> No.5131285

>>5131045
You could merge the track into splash boats, but I believe the log flume sprite only exists for the shallow slope so it will look odd.

Dive machines have generally awful capacity so don't be surprised by this. But your queue even accounting for realism is *still* too long for this.

merge either a splash boats (for expensive looking flumes) or a dingy slide (cheapo flumes) into the log flume for the drop.

It is true that the boats dont have the sprites but thats a minor thing compared to actually having a functional and realistic log flume

Funny RCT history: this won't be the first time the savegame has been modified. JJ made RCTModified back in 2006/07 and allowed for things like invisible huts and different ground tiles. No one uses it now for good reasons.
