It is functionally identical to beating a game on original hardware as long as you aren't savescumming/using turbo/etc. Are you really such an autist that you refuse to accept this as beating the game? How about this, from now on if you weren't playing on a CRT while cross-legged on the floor, you didn't really beat the game.

Are you aware that you can play a game on an emulator in the same fashion as you would play it on the original platform? For example, I just recently cleared the first Castlevania on NES in an emulator without a single game over, which I had done when I still owned my NES about a decade ago.

This elitism is just stupid. If you don't want to encourage people's shitty play behaviors, try actually addressing said behaviors, rather than just shitting on something tertiary to the matter.

Windowed is at a higher resolution than originally intended already. It also really doesn't matter for NES games, I could understand your complaint here if I was playing something that requires a proper resolution scaling, like an arcade bullet hell. I'm not concerned with how you enjoy yourself. I just disagreed that a person can't legitimately beat a game using an emulator. As long as they have the original platform's controller or a controller that does not give them an extra advantage and they play with the same rules as what the game ran with on the original platform, I consider that legitimately beating a game. The visual variation from using an LCD vs. a CRT is only superficially involved in that.

Either this the most autistic thing I've ever read or I was just very successfully baited. What about people at the time using an NES advantage? >Now you're setting your own rules to discredit other people who use emulators.
True. But the input device we use has a more significant impact on how we play a game than a slight visual variation, which is why I consider that a rule.

>>5017262
I don't understand what you're getting at. A PS4 game can't be played on a CRT because the resolution isn't high enough. Resolution has more than just a visual function in games, it directly affects your ability to interact with them.
