The grey mudmen things reminded me of Starman, at least a bit. The barrier trio also have a weird mark on their chests that reminds of the ones on Starman's.
But yeah, it kind of made sense though since Starmen were at Gyiyg's service, not Porky's.
Porky had his own versions of some of the high level mechanical enemies from M2, though, like that octopus thing.

Lloyd can use flamethrowers and laserbeams, and the first thing he does after he joins Ninten is create an explosive that destroys a classroom, then he launches a giant rocket bomb that blows up more stuff, and after that he has this awesome moment where he saves Ninten from a hopeless battle by showing up with a tank to blow up a giant, unkillable death robot.
Lloyd is basically a nerdy version of Mad Stan, as his default solution to any kind of problem is just blowing it all up.

I still liked 2, but I expected something different. The final battle with Giygas lived up to the hype though.
Mother 3 met my expectations and kind of surpassed them a bit, I really enjoyed all the little QoL stuff they introduced.

it is. I abused Eve's OP nature when I got her to grind my characters up to somewhere around level 40, which was very tedious and most likely unnecessary, but it was my first time playing through it and didn't want to take chances. I'll probably be more lenient whenever I play through it again.
I still love Mother 1/EarthBound Beginnings though. The atmosphere was never really replicated, not even by EarthBound. In the end, after playing all three, I feel each of the games are good for their own reasons, and can't really be compared. But that's just me.

Even with other humans flat out trying to kill him at times, Ness never went that far. Yeah sure he unleashed Giygas on him, but he had to fight Giygas either way and Pokey was clearly driven mad by Giygas at the time. I've played the game both on emulator and oiginal cart on my GBA micro, and while yes, on the original cart pulling the combos was easier and more consistent, I still could pull some 16-hit combos on the emulator quite a few times. But I don't think the combo system is really required to play through the game. Each additional hit only represents 1 HP, so it means you can add a total of 16 HP per character. Earlier in the game it might be useful to pull combos, I remember pulling a 16-hit one for the ghost boss and it helped beat him on the brink of death, but later in the game, enemies are so strong that it's not really a big difference if you take 16 extra HP points from them or not.
You can play through the game without using the combo system. Combos help but aren't really vital to beat the game.

since PK Beam is just a reskinned PK Fire in Smash (see: Starman), i think that's gonna be one the notable minor difference to who he's echoing from
other ideas is Brainshock being an echoed PK Flash, PSI Magnet being PowerShield, or he gets Villager's Slingshot aerials, 4D Slip for dodges, and the Boomerang item for his basic attacks.

Well there's evidence for Ninten at least, which I'm really psyched about.
The filenames for each update in the Smash Japan website have gone in numerical order over time (we are around number 140 now). There are 3 groups of times in which numbers have been skipped though. Several numbers were skipped at the beginning, likely because the website was being set up and getting flooded with tons of updates, recently because of the direct, and one time where there's this mysterious, unexplained gap after Ness. I don't want to get my hopes up too high but it is rather strange.
