It's a pretty massive update though, the differences are profound. I think the only real reason to play 64 now is if you practice Japanese but didn't want to emulate or go to the relative hassle of GC importing when the 64 cart is cheap.

I think the contrary nature of the board has some rule about software designed for windows 98 as a platform, no different then PSX or N64 being a platform created prior to 1999. Also, there is the Dreamcast, which does not belong here, but obviously someone complained enough that they allowed it. If dreamcast is /vr/, so is Xbox, GC & Ps2...but that is my opinion.

Well first off it's actually a pretty popular game, even among shmup groups. But at least one or a few regular posters around here had/have a violent distaste for it. When brought up in shmup threads it would often derail to the point of the whole thread being removed.

So that started the trend of opportunistic trolls starting threads about Ikaruga with the sole purpose of drawing out the hater to parade around and rant for their enjoyment. And sure it's posdible for there to be an unironic Ikaruga thread, there just hasn't been one in years.
