Came in Rice Krispie cereal boxes sometime in 2001, it was hard as fuck and is riddled with downright unfair design decisions.

It’s a demo for the game, Atlantis: The Lost Empire: Trial By Fire, but the levels are actually unique to the trial version and it contains a unique prequel story and unusued footage from the film.

The environmental design is good, everything else is ass.

Soldier of Fortune 2 isn't retro and was actually quite popular back in its heyday. Blood is definitely a bit obscure nowadays but sold decently enough to get a sequel and has a decent following among retro fps fans.

Now for obscure FPS games by Raven, look no further than CyClones. It was their first attempt at a Doom-type game before id just straight up gave them the Doom engine to make Heretic.

The Amiga had a couple of interesting FPS that aren't that well known. With games like Nemac VI, Gloom, Breathless, Genetic Species, Fears, Trapped or Alien Breed 3D and of course Death Mask , one of the worst shooters ever. When I have more time maybe I'll post some WebM's.

But there are also the proto FPS games, that came out before Wolfenstein or Doom. And I'm talking about games like Corporation or the ones using the Freescape Engine, that was also available on 8-bit machines. I.e Castle Master, Driller, Total Eclipsr, etc.

it was pretty sensational up until one of the later levels (the maze where you need to collect brains) that bit rekt me and I never got past it. Even maps and walkthroughs didn't help.

My personal favorite part of the entire game is when you're in a gallery where all the pictures have been torn out of the frames - the voice acting when you click on the pictures is so superb:

>click on a picture
(flat, inquisitive tone) "Looks like someone's taken to this canvas with a knife..."

>click on another picture
(very unsure, questioning tone) "The CANVAS is missing..."

>click on another picture
(very flat, detatched tone) "Another missing canvas"

>click on another picture
(surprised, intrigued tone) "yet aNOTHER missing canvas!?"

The contrast between the super flat deliver of "another missing canvas" and the ramped up, incredibly surprised tone of "yet a*nother* missing canvas" really gets me every time.

I wish there was a video that showed just this one section and voice acting.

Some of the charge up weapons are ingenious too - really cool way to handle unlimited ammo weapons.
