I've only played the PC-98 dungeon crawler and the SNES RPG. They're both decent. The SNES game is the only one I'm aware of that has a full translation patch. It's a very generic RPG and nothing special, but it's neat if you love Slayers. The PC-98 game you can get through without knowing Japanese, and it's mostly just finding your way through mazes. The combat is very simple.

Concept art also includes shit that isn't in the game. The devs only considered making her trans so that the West wouldn't freak out that you can beat the shit out of women, not knowing that that would make them freak out even worse. Someone informed them of this and they just figured they would replace them with actual men and avoid all controversy the easy way, so the newhalf stuff wasn't needed or used.

reminder that there's no proof that that was an original pre-release concept art, it's just a sketch from one of capcom's art books and I believe it was from one of the console ports, not the original arcade.
Both original Final Fight character designers have both said that Poison was originally a girl, and in fact Akiman says the japanese Poison is still a girl with XX DNA, only the US version of Poison is a trans.
Funniest thing is that the reason they decided to make it a "newhalf" is because they feared feminists groups in USA would sue Capcom for making a game where you beat up girls, lmao.

Sega CD and Sega Saturn had some pretty dope Working Designs releases.

You're right that there's more than one technically (though the story is the same). The Super Famicom version wasn't the original. It started on the NEC PC-8801. There were also PC-98 and PC Engine CD versions. The Sega CD version is a remake of those, while the SNES is another remake that changes a bunch.

Damn, the saga continues! Someday I might get into PC-Engine and Japanese computer systems. I used to have a TurboGrafx-16 with the CD attachment (bought for $20 at a yard sale in 2005 and sold for $450 on eBay in 2015) but there were very few good games that made it overseas.
