So I've stumbled upon the soundtrack for this game called "Illusion City" and it's pretty sick.

Turns out it's an old MSX jrpg that never got released to the US.

Been dying to try to find a proper english patch but I haven't had any luck. Anyone else know anything about this game?

On another note that could be a good conversation starter, what other old Cyberpunk-kinda games would you guys suggest? Whether it be shit like Deus Ex or Snatcher or Psychonauts.

https://youtu.be/BhWXKbXwWlg The soundtrack is really neat and I'm so frustrated I'm not able to play it. Apparently there is an english patch but the guy didn't finish translating the last 2 CD's or something like that. Apparently people were like, giving him shit and basically bullying him so he moved on to other projects.

I just thought I'd ask here because i was hoping someone else either had a solution or could talk about the game in general.

It's better on PC98 anyway.

The three retro Shadowrun games are cool though the Sega CD one is probably out of reach for the likes of you.

Oh word? I'll look into them!

Why do you say that about the sega CD?

Also in English on 3DS

I have it with the English patch, can probably pull the SD card out of my Wii and upload it somewhere if you want but before anything, you should be aware that it's an incomplete translation - something like only disks 1-3/5 iirc. I got trapped in a dungeon I wasn't prepared for and stopped playing years ago. The setting and maturity level is great though.

are there websites with the files still up? The ENG patch of course.

I'm sure I can find the patches, but I did have to apply them myself.

>>4978174
apply them? Like set them up in the files or something? sorry i'm a bit new on this kinda thing with english patches for emulating JP games

Looks like you're in luck. I just checked and the Wayback has the original translation pages archived including the downloads

So now all I'd need is the emulator correct? Or is it not that simple?

I appreciate the help by the way

How's the translation? The English on that web has Brazilian Engrish all over it. Not very reassuring.

that's some beautiful art on that cover

Yeah, use BlueMSX. You'll have to learn how to "insert" the disks and boot but it's pretty straight forward if you're just playing on a PC

>>4978208
Strange and beautiful. It just all comes together in a truly 90s feeling M rated JRPG experience

But again, I can't stress this enough you can only play in English 3/4 of the way through

>> No.4978268

>>4978239
Thanks! I'm sure there's some youtube tutorials.

Even if I won't be able to complete the game, the least I could do is play it and experience it for myself. I'll leave the rest of learning the ending to the story to myself looking up the story on the internet.

On the website you linked, should I click the "all disks" option?

I've wanted to play it for about a decade now but the translation is incomplete and dead.

Uhhh - probably. I only checked disk 1 and assumed the rest were all there.

If you patch it can you upload a patched version somewhere and link ot here?

Same. I've always wanted to wait until it was complete but it seems like that's never happening.

Imagine all the Japanese you could have learned in that decade.

This is one of those games that needs a new fantranslation project that starts from the top

The only people I've ever seen mentioning a possibility of working on it are the guys who translated EVO PC-98, but it's not high on their priority list or something.
