Because black hair and black eyes are boring as fuck. Further more, nignogs are the single most aesthetic-devoid people on Earth to base a character on, who the fuck wants to play as something that's black, black and brown. They even gave Ganondorf red hair and green eyes to spruce him up.
In FF7 Cloud was going to have slicked back black hair but they wanted something that stands out, ie aryan features.
