What are some /vr/ games on the PS2? Like the Metal Gear games on MGS3, and the Namco Museum.

The genesis collection and all of the snk games were decent for being emulators on a ps2

Taito Legends and the Sonic Mega Collection are fucking great.
Also I remember a TMNT game including the arcade version of Turtles in Time as an unlock, forget which one though.

Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2 has a lot of older arcade games from them. There's a Megaman and an X collection. A lot of fighting game collections.

Panzer Dragoon and Nights... are good ports.
Metal Slug Anthology is good if you hex edit it in 240p, and other SNK fighters if you're into those.
The Sega Collections(Wonder Boy, Phantasy Star..) by M2 are amazing as you'd expect.
The Namco 50th Collection isn't 240p, unfortunately.
Daioujou and ESPgaluda are good, Mushihimesama and Ibara less so.

Atelier Marie and Ellie is fine on emulator but the fuzz from the interlaced resolution is pretty bad on a CRT,
Saru Getchu! works perfectly on BB-POPS.

I think the Metal Slug Anthology (PS2) is the best way to play a lot of Metal Slug games, since, the actual cartridges / system cost so much.

The changed sound effects annoyed me for some reason. Also, there was something about the controls iirc?

I thought the only changes were made in the Wii version, not the PS2. I could be wrong. I know the Wii version for sure had visual changes

Didn't Anthology have a bunch of annoying load times between levels? Or was that specific to certain other consoles?

>>4924224
Seconding the Sega Collections. To clarify what that anon is referring to, it's a series of Japan exclusives all under a Sega Ages label. The ports aren't just excellent quality, but surprisingly complete. Monster World Collection has each region/console version of all the Wonder Boy games, so in case you have no interest in understanding moon, you can just run the US versions.

Stay away from the PAL version of Sonic Mega Collection. Horribly slow garbage.

Taito Legends 2 has such a ridiculously good selection

The Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Collection is fair game though, since not only does it include options for 60Hz and progressive scan 480p, but the 50Hz is correctly timed (although with skipped frames), but of course that isn't even an issuein the US release. It's also the only collection I know except Sonic Jam that doesn't emulate the YM2612 and features all pre-recorded audio. Which means music and sound effects play independently and as such do not overwrite each other, allowing for a somewhat nicer experience (you can even remove the DVD and keep playing with no music, giving you the chance to provide your own). I don't remember if included actual save-states, but there is definitely a way to save the game, or at least the stage in games that didn't come with such a feature. There are also various interviews/concept art/cheats tables and even some unlockableemulated arcade classics to entice you, all in all a great release.

Here's the kicker though, the input lag is far from ideal, especially for fast paced games, and the way the screen works is strange, since you can expand it both horizontally and vertically, like you would do with PS1 games on the PSP/Vita, but there's no way to make it completely full screen devoid of overscan. No 240p option either, so flickering sprites will have interlacing artifacts unless you go 480p.

PS2 version is fine IMO. I have played it countless times, and I think the games are as close as an arcade port from Neo Geo system as you are going to be able to achieve.

I am not sure about the PSP, Wii, PSN (PS3/PS4) versions. I have heard the Wii removed a lot of visual stuff and one of the PSN versions has slow down. I think the Wii has that too.

>>4926175

I own the PS2 version of the Sega Genesis Collection (North American version) and it's pretty good.
