I'm having trouble getting a decent performance while using dgVoodoo 2. It works pretty well running Crimson Skies, but Shogo has an utter garbage framerate.
What settings should I mess with to get a proper performance? Are there alternatives to dgVoodoo 2 I should try?

Are you on a laptop with no dedicated GPU?

I use my GeForce 840M by default and I've run them selecting the 840M using thee right click menu to make sure.

I'll look that up in a minute. How does it compare, generally speaking?

if you're not running the GOG version, at least use their compatibility settings

you can make and install these fixes with Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit

I'm trying to run the GOG version, which just hung on a soundless (I applied the dslite>dsound fix later) black screen, hence why I'm trying dgVoodoo.

OP here, after a fresh reinstall of Shogo, I managed to tun it as is, without adding nGlide nor dgVoodoo. Turns out the game just has terrible performance for some reason.
I'm running Windows 8.1, with an i5 5200U, a GeForce 840M and 8 gigs of RAM. Any advice?

nGlide only works for glide games. Shogo is a DirectX game, not going to work.
