What are some retro games that feel like Saturday morning cartoons?

>> No.4916523

Saturday morning cartoons peaked in the 70s, waned in the 80s and died in the early 90s when that TNBC shit started

my childhood peaked in the late 80s/early 90s and by then the weekday afternoon cartoons were where it was at

I sometimes wonder when younger people talk about 'saturday morning cartoons' if they even really remember them

Some that come to mind:
Little Nemo in Dream Land
Earthbound
Earthworm Jim
Sparkster

I guess most jrpgs on a way. They have a sort of episodic formula of "going to place and fight boss to resolve conflict" I suppose.
>>4916523
Are you serious? The 70's and 80's was all extended toy commercials, cartoonists of the time hated their work then as they weren't allowed any freedom in their work.

I think he's just talking about the "Saturday Morning" part. Also, 70s cartoons weren't that way. Hanna-Barbera probably remains the single greatest cartoon studio even to this day.

Over Warner Bros and Disney? You are fucking insane and/or have a really fucking bizarre definition for what constitutes greatness.

i have no idea how so many people remember "saturday morning cartoons" as if it were a usual thing. I'd always wake up too late for anything good to be on and even then, it was likely that the TV was being used by my parents. I only recall waking up on time and being able to watch cartoons about 3 times

Maybe in EEUU, but in Spain and Europe we got a lot of different normal cartoons: The Gnomes, Willy Fogg, the "Il était une fois... la Vie" series (great educative cartoons), Inspector Gadget, D'Artacán, etc.
And that's not counting the huge amount of anime shows: Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Sherlock Hound, Conan the Future Boy, Ranma, Captain Tsubasa, Saint Seiya, etc.

Inversely, this game would have made a PRIME SatAM cartoon circa 1989.

Although it depended on the show. Their universe is huge and full of characters, some more memorable than others.
I love the popular stuff and probably Top Cat is my all time fave, but I also like some underrated ones like Loopy de Loop a lot.

1. You're likely one since that applies to people born in the 80s-00s.
2. Don't know if you're the same anon but this is the second time I saw this retort to an undub comment. The fuck does some nerd wanting Japanese voices have to do with how shitty or not a generation is? Whatever the language, you're all faggots anyway.

Metamorphic Force (and many other Konami games from the era) were literally playing a Saturday Morning cartoon. I haven’t looked into it but they probably use some of the same American voice actors.
