His idea about bundling Sonic with the Genesis and lowering the price was excellent.
Too bad he didn't have much more vision than that. Many of the first party games he greenlit to be produced in America were trash, especially on Sega CD, what the actual fuck was he thinking.
Well, to be fair, the guy didn't come from a video game background, he was just a marketing guy. Still the best guy SoA ever had.

I had to kill Bob Morton because he made a mistake. Now it's time to erase that mistake.

The loss leader Strategy worked for the Genesis but proved fatal for the Dreamcast.

American developers were shit in general from that period, giving them access to a "multimedia drive" just amplified that tendency.

Be grateful that STI produced games as good as they did.

Actually he said that part of the reason he was kicked from Sega was the massive pushback he got when he suggested that Sega shift from an arcade-oriented games to the direction the industry was heading in, and to switch the Saturn's hardware over to 3D (at a time when Sega envisioned a 2D system). Also Nintendo used to be a toy company and Reggie used to work for Pizza Hut. Business is business.

>implying anyone at SoA had any saying about the Saturn's hardware
The Saturn was envisioned as a 3D system from the start, stop this revisionism.

then why was it the worst 3D system on the market while having the best ports of 2D arcade games? Did they just do a bad job with the 3D hardware?

Stolar > Kalinske

He was right to pull the plug on the abortion that was the Shiturn, and all you pathetic weebcucks know it.

Yeah dummy, they had dual chips. Most devs could program 2D on 1 or 2 chips but their 3D looked like 32x shit because they didn't know how to use 2 chips in 3D.

Doesn't matter, we all known the Saturn would have done better if they had:
>Pushed Grandia as Sega's answer to FF7
>Pushed Wachenroder as Sega's answer to FFT
>Released the 4MB cart and done a whole "blast processing" comparison of X-Men vs Street Fighter from Saturn to PS1
>Had an ad campaign that wasn't shit
>Not released US Saturn games in fuckugly longboxes
>Waited until after Panzer Dragoon Saga (which Sega had massive hopes for) to proclaim the Saturn dead
But no. Stolar had to "only have hardcore games for a hardcore system". I'm not saying the Saturn would been anything more than third place in the US, but it would have fared a ton better than it did. Maybe the extra cash and reputation could have kept the Dreamcast afloat a little longer.
