I preferred the C64 and Amiga games over all the 80's and 90's consoles and their games. Back than all the consoles were just overpriced junk to me that partially were even technically outdated for the most part (especially the original GameBoy). And just like that my only retro console from the 8 and 16 bit era was the Sega GameGear, but again I didn't have that many games for it since indeed they were massively overpriced. My next console already was the PS1.

I actually liked Simon's Quest and didn't find the hints/puzzles that difficult to understand. That's just what JP/Eng translation was like in games at the time and you were used to it.

I despise the Super Famicom library, only game i like in it is Kirby Superstar. Everything else is BORING!
I also have no interest in the Mega Drive, besides the sonic titles and streets of rage titles, everything else is as boring and uninteresting to me as the SF collection.
PC engine i have no clue, heard it has great arcade titles.
My favorite 16-bit console is definetly the Neo Geo, great arcade fighters, lots of shmups. My oldest gaming memories are of a cd my dad had (still have it tho) with a neo geo emulator filled with games.

I also fucking hate the 32-64 bit era of gaming, there are almost no games in it that I enjoy, Saturn gets a pass tho.

I think Yoshi's Island is ugly, the crayon graphics are repulsive, baby Mario annoying as fuck and the jumping is too floaty. It's a shit game and I hate it, really do not understand why it is possible.

Rare never made another good game after DKC2. All those 3D platformer collectathons are horrible and I hate people who like those kinds of games.

There are other holy cows in gaming that I despise but those two should be enough to trigger the literal autists and literal fuckign manchildren that play and enjoy nothing but kiddie games that do not require skill and instead reward you for doing time and labor instensive shit like collecting virtual crap. I obsessively watch speed runs in order to beat the everliving shit out of old games that I couldn’t get 5 minutes into as a kid. It honestly gives me a nice feeling of accomplishment/ closure as I don’t have a lot of time to play games nowadays.

I think Quake 2 get a lot of undeserved hate. I thought it was pretty good back in the day, and I still think it's pretty decent.
The combat is fun, the music just fucking slaps, and I like the graphics.

This. Actually, most games prior to 1996 just sucked. Maybe it is because I look for immersion, but platformers just end up feeling stressful and miserable, and flight sims tend to have nothing to look at.

I hate Quake's multiplayer however as it gets too stressful and is entirely based around who picked up the Rocket Launcher first. I highly prefer playing shovelware levels made in 1996 as I have autism and don't want to touch things made in 1997 or later.

DOS was clunky and a frustrating system to navigate. Windows native is a lot more relaxing.

Most games in 1996 sucked. Duke Nukem sucked as it was all chaotic mazes and finding scratches on walls.

Quake is possibly the only good game out there and so many people ruin it by trying to "modernize it" by using versions past 1.06.
