Sega may you rest in peace.

In a better world Nintendo would have died with the n64. Microsoft would have never entered the console business, the Dreamcast would have gone toe to to with the ps2, eventually releasing Dreamcast 2 bundling virtual on and a dual stick setup taking the world by storm.

No Sony was actually legit and tried new shit without going off the deepend. Nintendo just went with gimmicks over and over again. Their latest console is literally a giant Gameboy complete with shitty controls.

While Sega and Sony were experimenting with online Nintendo was making tiny DVDs and eventually tried online but way too late and like 1 game that used it.

i still find it amazing how many idiots hold that sad console in such a high regard. over engineered and "3d" hastily added on to compete with sony. sega deserved to be punished for that pile of shit. it's no wonder sega have rarely mentioned a word about it since.

That Snes is missing a game genie, xband, pro action replay, super gameboy 2, every cheat device ever made for the gameboy with one of those tall early devcarts on top, and a satellaview pedestal. That's a Tower of Babel I'd love to see!

Funnily enough, Microsoft and Sony technically got into the video game industry at the same time. The MSX was a computer platform developed my Microsoft Japan, and Sony was a key manufacturer of them. Just like the Xboxes after it, it has X in the name. The MSX 2 was the only real competitor to the Famicom, effectively, Nintendo was able to beat both Microsoft and Sony at the same time. It's also funny when you consider that the Xbox was created as a direct response to the dominance of the PS1 and later PS2, and they're essentially identical machines.

Hoo boy this post is full of YouTube "knowledge."

>Microsoft and Sony technically got into the video game industry at the same time.
First, the MSX was a home computer, not a game console. Second, Microsoft was making games well before the MSX. Microsoft didn't even make MSX games as far as I can tell.
>Just like the Xboxes after it, it has X in the name.
The Xbox has an X in its name because of DirectX. Nothing to do with the MSX, other than perhaps Microsoft having a general fondness for putting X in its product names.
>The MSX 2 was the only real competitor to the Famicom
It wasn't competing with the Famicom, it was competing with the NEC PC-8801, Sharp X1, Fujitsu FM-7, and other 8-bit microcomputers in Japan at the time. The Famicom's competitors were the Epoch Super Cassette Vision, the Sega SG-1000/Mark III and the NEC PC Engine.
>Nintendo was able to beat both Microsoft and Sony at the same time.
Nintendo didn't beat the MSX, NEC did by coming to dominate the Japanese computer industry.
>the Xbox was created as a direct response to the dominance of the PS1 and later PS2, and they're essentially identical machines.
The fuck are you trying to say? No, the Xbox was not identical to either the PS1 or PS2 in any way, shape, or form.

>MSX games as far as I can tell.
The MSX standard was made by both Microsoft and ASCII corp, and in part Spectravideo too 'cause it's based on the specifications of one of their pre-existing home computer (though this computer isn't MSX compatible). But Microsoft pulled the plug earlier than anyone else because aside 1~2 Spectravideo and Yamaha models, no MSX ever sold in the US. Those poor sales are also why you see some people claimp that "the MSX never was available in the west" despite it having a good foothold in some european countries and south america.
