Can we all agree that Ice Climber is Nintendy's magnum opus?

ice climber is a pretty worthy game but sadly not rated that highly by others. besides, nintendo dropped far better games.

Their magnum opus is still Super Mario Bros like it or not, but yeah sure, Ice Climber is a masterpiece of co-op platformers. It's very hard though, which makes playing with someone that at least have patience to learn the controls and physics a bit hard these days.
I have a friend who's also good at this game since we played as kids, and we still do competitive plays every now and then, still fun as fuck.

Ice Climber kinda sucks, to be brutally honest.
It'd probably be long forgotten if it wasn't for Melee.

It's a good game though.
And Ice Climber will forever be in the memories of many kids of different generations thanks to famiclones and multicarts around the world.
Them being on Melee was cool, but it didn't really serve any purpose for the IP other than recognition, they didn't make a new Ice Climber game.

I could NEVER get into it the way I got into literally any other Nintendo game from around, or even before that era.

Not with those terrible jump physics and the frequency with which you just fucking fall through the edge of a platform.

You're both wrong. Nintendo's best work were their Hanafuda cards. Then they decided to switch genres to these newfangled "video amusements" and it all went off a cliff from there.

You re right
SMB is the most advanced black box game, it doesn t even really belong with them.

Honorable mention to Pro Wrestling. Ahead of it s time and I had a blast with it as a kid.

Kung Fu (yes I know not Nintendo developed) and Excitebike also felt a level above a lot of black box titles
