This shit better pick up after an hour, it fucking sucks so far

10 hours in and you will be able to teach magic to any character. You're gonna love this.

I love both, VI is still my favorite by a bit though. I think it picks up pretty fast, the story moves pretty quickly so I'd say stick with it a bit longer to see if you like it. How far did you get?

I love the way 7 starts. Just balls to the wall throw you into the fight with no tutorial. BEST GAME INTRO EVER!

The whole reactor bombing run was a great way to start. I love Midgar in general. Awesome atmosphere.

Even though I love FF and other JRPGs I'm just going to say it: ENOUGH ALREADY! Let threads for other games and genres have chance.

I can see why you're annoyed, but I don't think it's a big deal. It's not like the board is super fast moving, it's easy enough to post whatever you want and still get attention. It should sort itself out.

Nah I'm not annoyed, just pointing out that summer is the time when most people I know shell out FF, CT, DQ, Super Mario RPG or Earthbound.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I probably should have just replied to the first anon, didn't mean to say you're annoyed.

It legit picks up like 15 hours in for like 5 more hours and then it pathetically simmers out.

VI starts off a bit slow honestly. Doesn't get good until about 12 hours in.

>> No.4895691

It doesn't pick up until like halfway through the fucking game, OP. You need to essentially get to the world of ruin to enjoy it.

More like 3 hours unless you somehow manage to spend 7 extra hours grinding and wandering around towns.

Just started a playthrough last weekend, I grinded in the Veldt for stray cat when I first got Gau.

Only time I grinded was right near the end when I wanted my party to know all the powerful end game moves. Took like 2 hours and made the last few fights and Kefka piss easy.

I don't regret it because at that point I was so burnt out with FF6 I wanted to end it, but apart from that I never had to grind since the encounter rate was so fucking high it did it for me. I just had to make sure I moved around Espers so people would learn more and more magic.

Too bad it all goes downhill after exiting Midgar.

The whole game should've been just Midgar and dystopian ciberpunk.

Sure, but 10 hours to get to Zozo? That seems excessive to me and I am a very slow player.

Every time I try to pick up this game I end up dropping it at the exact same spot, Mt. Kolts. Maybe I'll manage to reach further this time. It's so slow compared to V, my favorite.

>> No.4898160

>>4898045
Yeah unfortunately you still have a bit to go until it picks up. What happens after Kolts is that you go to the returner hideout and meet the leader. The party splits up, with Locke heading back towards Figaro, Terra and Edgar heading to Narshe, and Sabin getting washed down river. At that point, have to complete all three sequences, but you can do them in any order you want. Terra&Edgar's is very short and nothing much happens. Locke's is a little bit longer as you meet a new character and have a boss fight. Sabin's is very long, with multiple boss fights (including a train you can suplex), some major cutscenes, and you pick up two new characters and a decent amount of gear.

Once you all meet up back in Narshe again, there's a multi-party combat event similar to the one you have in the beginning with Locke and the Moogles, except this time with your own parties. After that, you get to choose your party for the next segment of the game and the game starts to open up a little bit. After the next major level, you'll gain access to Espers, one of the main features of the class system. The last time I played, it took me a about 2.5 hours to reach that point, though it could easily take 4-5 I think if you go slowly.

Well, now I understand why the first part feels like a very long tutorial.
>it could easily take 4-5 I think if you go slowly
I usually take my time while playing RPGs and that's what I did on all my previous attempts. Now I'll try to speedrun the beginning and see where that takes me.
Thanks anon, maybe knowing all this will motivate me enough.

Dual Orb 2 is god tier because of the snipers and monster trucks.

That was the idea, no worries if it doesn't work, though.

>> No.4898445

Speaking of FFVI, I got a little taste of Kekfa's Tower. My team's level is around high 30s to low 40s. And my ass gets handed to by Ninjas and dragons there. Am I underleveled? I grinded hard to level up the level 3 magic to most characters, but Ice3 and Thunder3 is tedious to grind because the magicite has a low level up rate.

do the sidequests easy leveling up and most of them can get you powerful items search for tritoch boss
