This brings back memories of watching my dad shoot and murder his way through Pico's School back when I was a young kid.

As well as the Russian Roulette game with these characters. When you got down to the last bullet there was a Grim Reaper standing behind your character and my dad thought that was hilarious.

Ah, late 90's Flash games and their teenage edginess. I remember there was one "game"/animation where you had to kidnap, mutilate and murder Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls. Really upset me as a kid.

What's dumb about that rule is that discussing Deus Ex, a quintessential PC gaming classic is completely illegal to discuss here because it was released in 2000 which is one year after the cutoff. Meanwhile FIFA Football 2005 for the PS1, one of the last games released for the system, is fair game.

But yeah Pico's school was released in 1999 so he's fair game. Back on topic, what are some classic Flash/Shockwave games? Mine's Lenny Loosejocks.

I used Newgrounds in 1999 and I honestly have no idea what the fuck that shit is. Zero of my coworkers ever mentioned it or showed it and we used to browse that shit for days during downtime.

That being said "considered retro" is quite correct here. Albeit it's really "retro" is misused on this board. Sort of like how comics have silver/golden/modern age of comics. That's what Retro is here. Retro gaming is an era. An Xbox will never be "retro" because it doesn't fit in the same time period as "retro games" as defined here. It fits in the modern post 2000 era of gaming and always will. Even though one day people will say that's "retro" it's not what the same thing. We really should rename it and push towards something like golden age of gaming just like comics to identify it as a period rather a time relationally comment. That being said, shockwave/flash games generally fit into modern era of gaming primarily even though the technology was introduced in 1995. It's adoption was slow and most games that used it are generally closer to modern design principles. Most early games were extremely simplistic and it really only picked up in the early 2000s when performance wasn't so abysmal.
