It was amazing. The fourth year was the best one.

I think I stopped at the third year, because my computer died. never went back to it though

4th year? Could someone explain the plot of the game to me, I never got far enough to know about these 'years'

I got stuck right around meeting the revolutionaries with the pigeons and never picked it back up. That always happens to me in point and click games pre-internet walkthrough era.

They are like chapters, pretty much. You should go back and finish it.

well, basically, there's this guy who sell tickets to heaven or something, if you're good, you go get a straight shot to heaven in a fuckin instant, otherwise, you get nada and hafta walk for about 4 years.
manny jacks a client from his rival, and realizes that this saint of a woman, meche, doesn't get the train ticket, because the boss is hogging them for himself and his underworld mobster buddies. thus begins an epic 4 year journey through the afterlife.

Slightly off topic, but I've been thinking about getting Loom off Steam come this summer, anyone recommend it?

>> No.487856

I played Grim Fandango for the first time about 3-4 years ago and was blown away by how great it was. Easily became one of my favorite games even after playing it so ling after release.

Ahh Lucasarts.

LOOM off steam? Is it a remake or something?

I think the bluish 8(or however many)color original graphics was cool

My eurosteam offers it for 4€. Doesn't seem to be a remake to me.

I have a physical copy of this game, but I can't figure out the controls. And no I'm not an idiot, I played this a long tie ago and just can't remember the controls for the life of me.

Sure it's awesome even if it's very easy by P&C standards. Oozes atmosphere, makes a very interesting setting out of mostly graphics and tidbits and has some good music to boot.
Just remember to write down note order for spells as they're slightly randomized iirc and know that you can cast them backwards to reverse them as well.

Loom is alright, but really short. I bought it years ago on Steam in a Lucasarts adventure pack (with both Indys and The Dig), but then I found out that the Steam version is far from optimal.

The FM Towns version is the best, if I recall. I pirated and played that.

That game gave the feels. Some of the puzzles didn't make a too much sense though, specially that part in the forest when you are pimping the car. Still I wish I could play it for the first time again.

Hmm, okay, thanks, atmosphere, music and setting are probably good enough for me, but I'll see the method I'll get it. It's not like the guys who programmed it were going to see a penny of it if I buy it now.

But I do usually want to make it count that people still buy these kinds of games.
