I never played a game in this series, which one is the best and how is the gameplay different from other rpgs?

Play 1. It's very classical but it's also the best in terms of mood and likable characters.
And I mean 1 on PS, not the PS2 remake.

With exception to 4, which is a bit weak, I feel they're all roughly the same quality. 3 is my personal favorite.

The series as a whole averages out really well, so Id say just go in order. If you want to know my favorite it's 2 but they're all worth the time

Man I miss Wild Arms. I wish I could say it's coming back, and it is... as a mobile reboot. So yeah, just like Breath of Fire, it's dead. RIP.

1 is the best, the perfect blend of classic and western themes. The three characters are great and well fleshed out. The world is nicely crafted and chock full of cool secrets. Fighting is turn-based but still fun; graphics are a bit on the meh side. Stellar soundtrack!

Every sequel went more retard with the shitty trifecta of higher emphasis of western theme + ARMs being more common + ANIME!!^_^

The gameplay is very, very standard for RPGs. It's the atmosphere, and especially the soundtrack, that sells the game. Michiko Naruke is my favorite video game composer of all time.

This sums-up my opinion on the game. About the graphics, I digged the 2D stuff, but man, the battles were an eyesore. The animations in particular.

The dungeons with tools and puzzle were a nice touch. Reminded me of Lufia 2.
