Preferably something as easy to use as possible, I don't know shit about emulation. I just want to play some of the SNES games I missed out on and I don't feel like paying Nintendo money for games they made a ton of money from decades ago.

Honestly they're all good these days. Snes9x is quick, dirty, and good enough 99% of the time and is what you should probably use unless your autism forces you to turn to zsnes for the filters or higan for absolute perfection.

Snes9x via Retroarch. You can reduce the input lag significantly and ad whatever silly shaders you like and customise the fuck out of them.

>> No.4872889

Another vote for Snes9x, with or without retroarch.
Also, only assholes use ZSNES.

What if my autism about sound emulation is the main problem?
As that's why I went with Higan in the first place.
Even though crude DOS-like ZSnes was better on sound emulation than SNes9x.

>This, to me, is most important in games like Super Mario RPG, where the soundtrack is a huge part of the appeal.

This, to me, is most important in games like Super Mario RPG, where the soundtrack is a huge part of the appeal.

Are you serious? If anything, the sound of Super Mario RPG has always been terrible on Zsnes. If you insist on using that emulator then at least use if for some old mario hacks or whatever. You're better off emulating it with a different emulator.

>sound emulation is the main problem
>Higan
I don't know about you but if there's one issue with Higan (or at least with Bsnes) then it's the constant crackling that occurs even on compatibility mode running on a dual core PC.

Bsnes is beta Higan from what I understand. So that may be your problem.
And the ZSnes sound thing was only in comparison to SNes9x. Which is unbelievably bad. Especially for a game that I grew up with and adored when it was originally released.
I'd go into an autistic fit if Merrymore's background music was off.

All emulators are broken and even "cycle accurate" ones like higan are barely considered accurate because the music is broken and mangled. You either play on real hardware with a legit cart and a crt or don't play at all. It's not my fault you're poor, go get a job.

I'm so sick and tired of seeing you tards on here complaining about emulation being broken. No shit it's broken. Do you know how much computing power it would take to ACCURATELY emulate even the NES? Here's a hint: even super computers can't compute that high yet.

Either you play LEGIT carts on LEGIT consoles with a 30inch CRT (anything below 30' looks like shit) or don't play at all.

IT'S NOT DIFFICULT YOU MORANS,

I've been using ZSNES since 2001 and it's never left me wanting for anything. If it's "busted," I can't tell, and it's afforded me the chance to play an innumerable number of game I otherwise never would have.
Anyone who bitches about ZSNES or emulation is either a purist who shouldn't interject or an autist who should be ignored.

Zsnes was made for the DOS era and the devs never bothered to fixed shit. Unless you emulate on a DOS rig or something with worse specs than built for corporate use Pentium II, you have no business using Zsnes. >>>/b/

Then buy an actual Super Nintendo and actual games. Money goes to the previous owner, not Nintendo, and you get the legit experience.

SnesGT was the first to fix snes audio years ago and every SNES emulator since then has been fine in the sound department.
If you're super autistic - use retroarch because it syncs the game and audio to your monitor down to a miniscule level so there's no chance of pops or crackles.

>I've been using ZSNES since 2001 and it's never left me wanting for anything.
You are legally deaf, or you're playing with the sound off.

Higan has input lag that other emulators don't, byuu has admitted it, and brunnis on the RA forums offered to fix it but byuu went mental and forbids anyone to fix it.
So yeah stick with snes9x.

>> No.4876852

>>4875014
He did but Brunnis admitted he was wrong and compared Higan with DWM to RetroArch without DWM. RetroArch has the best latency for a rendered GUI, Higan is the best for a WIMP interface.

Actually Higan v106 and Snes9X v1.56 with Reduce Input Lag checked are exactly the same input lag. I just tested side by side with a slow motion video capture.
