This is my first post on this board. Hello. What are your favorite titles on the Genesis/SNES? I've been looking for stuff outside of my bubble of knowledge and I figured less-retarded /v/ was the place to ask.

>> No.4866217

Genesis is better than the SNES for games like Ghost busters, Home Alone, Sonic 3, Toejam and Earl, Dynamite Headdy, and Aladdin I just had a great time with the console.

>> No.4866221

>>4866217
>Home Alone
Also, Capcom Aladdin > Virgin Aladdin.
But yeah the Genesis Ghostbusters game is great. If you want to play another good Ghosbuters game, play Ghostbusters 2 on NES (PAL only)

Genesis usually had bassier music, too, which was a definite plus to me as a kid. Shit I could beatbox like a moron in the back of the car. Vectorman was awesome.

Genesis is good if you want jagged metal music, SNES is good if you want atmospheric/moody orchestra music

Well, I dislike long intros, especially unskipable ones. As someone that listed Alien Soldier and SoE as favorite games, I would enjoy them even more that way.
As for Xmen 2, it was just cool that you started playing the game even before seeing the Sega/Marvel logo. I can see cinematic games benefiting from that approach too.

Phantasy Star 2&3, Castlevania Bloodlines, Monster World 4, Crusader of Centy, Beyond Oasis, Magical Taruruuto-kun, Puyo Puyo, Dahna Megami Tanjou and Alisia Dragoon.

SNES
Final Fantasy 6, Zelda A Link to the Past, Terranigma, Magical Pop'n, Madou Monogatari, Mega Man X, Shin Megami Tensei 1&2, Hagane, Kirby Super Star and Front Mission: Gun Hazard.

SNES: Chrono Trigger, EarthBound, Final Fantasy 6, Kirby Super Star, Lufia II, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island,
Super Metroid, Zelda
Megadrive: Bare Knuckle 3, Beyond Oasis, Contra (Japanese), Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star IV, Ristar, Rocket Knight Adventures, Shining Force II, Shinobi III, Sonic & Knuckles .
That doesn't even scratch the surface of how much stuff i like on those systems.
>>4866217
Dave Perry's amiga/megadrive aladdin is garbage.....with nice animation. They forgot to design levels and proper controls after they'd finished with the engine though.

People have had a lot of time to go over the libraries and it is true that most of the best stuff is well known at this point even if the title was a commercial failure, japan only, or whatever other situation that would cause it to be not be popular in-era. If you're going through romlists playing unknown stuff you're probably going to be more looking for average or mediocre games you personally like cause of the graphics/music or a particular mechanic or something. Playing random unknown games and pretending this was all you got that christmas when it's shit is a good way to keep perspective on just how good the "good old days" were sometimes also
