>The state of this thread

OP got it off to a shitty start by being so confrontational, like anybody here ever said SA-1 wouldn't happen or some shit. With everything else working it was a foregone conclusion.

I mean what else is there to say? It's in development, like everybody assumed it was, cool.

>> No.4866121

>>4866106
It makes you wonder if redguy will work on another chip once he gets SA-1 working properly. Everything else is niche as fuck (ST-011, ST-018, SPC7110) or not really worth implementing (S-DD1).

>> No.4866125

>>4866020
Wasn't MSU support the big selling point for this thing?

>> No.4866129

>>4866125
No? The big selling point is being a flash cart with better compatibility than the Super Everdrive. MSU is a bonus that not everyone cares about.

>> No.4866130

>Paying to emulate
Don't do it.

>> No.4866145

>>4866125
No, the big selling point for this thing is costing less than Mega Man X2 or Mega Man X3 and being able to play both. And then we got SFX and appear to be getting SA1, too.

MSU is a novelty, a parlor trick. It's unnecessary bullcrap and the fact that they bothered working on it instead of chips that actually fucking exist has been extremely frustrating.

ST-011 and ST-018 are garbage shogi games (there's unironically better shogi games playable without them), and SPC7110 only has a crap baseball game, a board game with no translation, and a single JRPG. There's also technically the Sufami Turbo, but for all we know that's impossible to get working without additional hardware since it's basically a third party 32x style add-on. If anyone has any issues with redguy hanging it up after SA1, they've got issues.

>> No.4866165

>>4866106
After SuperFX was added a lot of people were saying SA-1 would never fit and it was a ruse to get people to buy an upgraded version of the cart.

>>4866158
SPC7110 is just decompression and RTC so it might not take too much to get it working. S-DD1 only has SFA2 since Star Ocean has the 96mbit patch. Other than those there is almost nothing left for people to complain about.

>> No.4866176

>>4866165
IIRC SFA2 has a patch too. I don't care either way because the SNES version of SFA2 is far from the first one I'd want to play anyway.

>> No.4866189

>visit sd2snes blog
>some people are thanking ikari for this
Byuu and RedGuy have done far more to get the SD2SNES beyond the Super ED than ikari has. Given the sensitive timing of the SA-1-SNES CPU interrupts as Byuu described, I wonder how close to accurate RedGuy will be able to get it.
Funny enough, doesn't this mean ikari was promising SuperFX and SA-1 for years without doing any programming on them what-so-ever, if another guy with the skills came along and did both in 1-2 years time? Cause it kinda looks like that.

>> No.4866196

>>4866189
It's not exactly a secret. Ikari got a girlfriend and development basically stopped after that.

>> No.4866212

>>4866189

That's exactly what happened and it wasn't even close to two years, SuperFX support started about 6 months back and if SA-1 gets finished soon it will have all been done inside of a year.

>> No.4866265

>>4866189
>sensitive timing of the SA-1-SNES CPU interrupts

None of the SA-1 games need that so there is no point in being autistic about it. There are no SA-1 test ROMs so if the 5 games that use it work convincingly that's as accurate as anyone will ever need. Even if it ended up being incredibly hacky it's not like anyone would be able to tell the difference.

>> No.4866268

>>4866145
Fully documented. No excuse. You're sounding like a shill when the hardware is going to cost twice the normal flashcart while support 4 more games. Where as MSU support has at least 10 with CD quality audio.

>> No.4866275

>>4866268
I don't think either one of you understand. RedGuy is saying you wouldn't be able to use MSU WITH SA-1, unless he really manages to cram it in the FPGA. You can play MSU or SA-1 games(once it's finished), you just might not be able to use MSU-1 enhancements for SA-1 games.

It's a non-issue.

>> No.4866428

>After SuperFX was added a lot of people were saying SA-1 would never fit
I don't have an SD2SNES, but how is code "not fitting" a problem? Don't tell me the SD2SNES is actually designed to have firmware flashed to it instead of running firmware directly from the SD card, because that would be fucking stupid.

Not that guy and I don't know what constitutes a good shogi game, but here are all the no-intro entries with "shougi" in the title:

These ones are normal carts:
4-nin Shougi
Habu Meijin no Omoshiro Shougi
Heisei Gunjin Shougi
Honkaku Shougi - Fuuunji Ryuuou
Itou Hatasu Rokudan no Shougi Doujou
Itou Hatasu Rokudan no Shougi Doujou
Katou Hifumi Kudan - Shougi Club
Kousoku Shikou Shougi Ou
Pro Kishi Jinsei Simulation - Shougi no Hanamichi
Shodan Morita Shougi
Shougi Club
Shougi Fuurinkazan
Shougi Zanmai
Super Gomoku Shougi - Jouseki Kenkyuu Hen
Super Shougi
Super Shougi 2
Super Shougi 3 - Kitaihei
Super Tsumeshougi 1000

These ones were also available through Satellaview:
Heisei Gunjin Shougi (BS-X)
Super Tsumeshougi 1000 (BS-X)

And these ones use special chips:
Asahi Shinbun Rensai - Katou Hifumi Kudan Shougi - Shingiryuu (SA-1)
Kakinoki Shougi (SA-1)
Saikousoku Shikou Shougi Mahjong (SA-1)
Shin Shougi Club (SA-1)
Shougi Saikyou (SA-1)
Shougi Saikyou II - Jissen Taikyoku Hen (SA-1)
Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shougi (ST-011)
Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shougi 2 (ST-018)

IIRC the SA-1 is a beast so it should be able to trade blows with the ST-018 in terms of processing power.

The ST-series chips only "enhance" the AI, but all it does is make the AI slightly faster, not better. Best Shogi games are SA-1 games anyway.

The music is pretty nice, though. That's standard for most Shogi games, but it still applies here.
