Most recently this guy, The Ridernfrim Breath of Fire IV, has given me trouble. He's technically a postgame boss but still. He regenerates half of his entire hp each turn making him a real bitch to kill.

Why? Nocturne or IV are way easier to ease people in. SJ is the best SMT game in my opinion but not the best gateway game.

Field Effects and Innate Attributes.
Defend is of marginal use in CC, and there is no item command.
You use items as elements.

With a full white field and against a black innate, that attack does 4x damage.
Even defending doesn't help there, and you're forced into the fight with Harle and Lynx, two Black-innate characters.

Your best bet is to never let him get all-white field, and spam dark elements when he casts WhiteField to turn it black so that his attack does 50% damage, then use a consumable healing L1 element to heal.

Not entirely sure since I never played DDS games, I've heard demi-friend is very hard. But in Soul Hackers you fight a boss gauntlet consisting of Kyouji (from the first Devil Summoner), who already is pretty challenging but doable, then exclusive for the 3DS, since it contains non-/vr/ characters, follows a fight with both Raidous, which is insanely hard (I never got past it), then after you beat them there's the true final boss, who is from one of the Raidou games as well, and I've read it's ridiculously hard.

Nocturne is very difficult and often unfair to newcomers, and IV is best enjoyed with knowledge of the series to recognize references and recurring elements. For instance, the DLC bosses in 4 use a heavily remixed version of 1 and 2's Law themes, and Mastema's appearance is a big deal due to his major role in Strange Journey.

Strange Journey being standalone with a recent 3DS release makes it easy to get a hold of and into, and it's easier to adapt from normal turn-based combat to press turn than the opposite.

The last fight with the queen is basically a crazy DPS run where the best option is to have two casters go crazy with Crimson Flare while everyone else desperately tries to tank and heal up.
The Queen's last form is very strong against physical attacks and just loves to use AoE or straight up dishonest bullshit like stacking Hell Claw with Poison Breath, and you can't cheese her in any way either unless you really take your time sparking the mikiri for most of the stuff she uses, and even so you'll still not be able to deal with some of her stuff like Swarm.
I actually kind of dislike her battle, it was a good decision to make her immune to Quicktime and honestly, they should have made the Seven pull the same counter too, but she's even cheaper than the Seven, at least against them as long as you build up on the first phase with Rocbouquet you're mostly in the green, the Queen's just raping you mercilessly all the time.

Nah man, I've already tried and that is a bet on odds I don't want to take on, much safer to just tank and wittle her out with Koumei and whoever else spamming Crimson Flare.

>> No.4858001

>>4857737
don't use rapid stream, use something that increases defense. You don't need to stun every turn, even stunning some of the time will reduce the damage you take

>> No.4858208

>>4857737
I haven't played with bonus content yet so I don't know what that changes, but normally using mist cover on yourself removes the enemy's ability to evade. Therefore in rapid stream formation you can have one character use mist cover (or even the equivalent tech) and one character use feint and any stunnable enemy will be utterly helpless.

Excluding cheese tactics my favorite formation is the herder's defensive formation. I've beaten the meatball with very low hp/skill levels while relying on this formation. Also, note that you can spam light magic to change the battlefield's attunement; abyss gate sets it to darkness and that allows the last boss to regen and also allows the use of different attacks (notably maelstrom).

Already did with both Mu Fence or Holy Wall, it's not worth it unless you have the Mikiri for Hell Claw, at which point you don't really need to stun her to begin with since you've already
The way I do fight her is with Hunter Shift/Desert Fox with the front tanking everything with strong characters like Hannibal while the back spams Crimson Flare, fastest and safest way to kill her off for me, I tried multiple times and only lost once due to a really bad turn.
>>4858208
None of that matters because the Queen has 7 Heroes levels of HP but with a smaller and more dangerous moveset, not to mention it's a two phase battle, so you have to not waste too much time and resources on the first one to actually be able to beat the second one, and the Queen is very fast and much stronger than the Seven, I've seen her hit my super decked emperor for 4 digit damage with her Hell Claw, and then she has Poison Breath, which is used almost every turn and she has forced regen each turn as if that wasn't enough, stunning her just isn't worth it unless you either grind a lot for proficiencies/Hydra Suits and/or grind to get a mikiri for every possible move you can block so you can at least avoid a turn in setting up Sword Barrier, which makes the second phase a lot safer since you have to reapply everything from the first phase.

>> No.4859596
