Nice try Nintendo

emuparadise was compromised long ago, Sony and Nintendo noticed and had many of their games taken down from it, even before that its selection was never great with lots of bad dumps or incomplete libraries.

Just get a complete romset. Preferably No Intro or Redump, and complete it with the missing stuff (romhacks, floppy discs, interesting prototypes, etc etc)

Most ROM sites are also lazy as shit and rarely update when a new game gets dumped.

If you want Somari and other pirate carts that the internet likes to call "rare" because of how lazy said ROM sites are, just get a Goodset/NonGood.

This is /vr/ where every console pack outside of CDs is between 10 MB to 5GB each, and N64 ROMs are insufferable to obtain on ROM sites, especially when the verified dump has a .z64 extension (which would be the one the hacks & utilities ask for) and almost none of the retardo ROM sites have that one. It's not my fault emufagadise wants to host outdated Goodset packs from 2007.

Where else do peeps even expect to find most PC-98 games at this point? I had to download almost every single one in numerous packs off of eMule years ago since 'ROM' sites didn't want to fucking host them, and it's still pretty much the same deal now. It was quite infuriating having to go through numerous 4shared links for pre-smartphone mobile games since none of them host those, either. There's still no pack for those and peeps barely care.

I loved this site. Obviously it was nowhere near a complete listing of ROMs but their more exclusive selection and semi-comprehensive reviews with witty banter gave you a real idea of what to expect before you went ahead and downloaded what could possibly be several MBs of SNES or Genesis games, which in those days could take like an hour if you were unlucky

You don't extract MAME ROMs dipshit. You leave them in the zip file and load that.

>> No.4847626

I remember for a hot minute Zophar went against everything they claimed to stand for and had a massive ROM archive on their site, it just wasn't linked from any of the main pages at all. You had to manually put in like roms.zophar.net or zophar.net/roms or something like that and it was ALL there. Eventually they got busted and took it all down, fucking shame that.

I was just glad to see it happen though because one thing I always hated was the self-righteous (though to keep in the legal green I understood) "piracy is illegal and we won't engage in it" bullshit

>> No.4848036

I don't think he's talking about decompression/unarchiving the zip files. He's talking about how you download a gigantic collection and only small fraction of the games you downloaded will actually run with the installed version of MAME. How do you filter for those? That's the question I believe.
