So this arrived today.
It was in great condition in the ad.
Paid over 500$ for it shipped.
Ebay seller lives in a fantasy world devoid of reason, logic and physics. A world where heavy 30 year old particle board can be shipped in an ill-fitting, flimsy box with a bunch of foam peanuts and old newspapers.

The mario decal on it is in amazing condition. Thats why i ordered it. I was sooo pumped . Too bad the awesome mario decal is permanently stuck to a broken piece of useless particle board for the rest of time. Mario isnt gonna be looking to hot after a year of sitting in a landfill, cause thats where this thing is most likly heading to now.
I wish these ebay sellers would stop having retarded monkeys pack their items for them.

The decal really does look to be in great shape, so you really should try to do something to salvage it.

Cut around the decal (as long as the back of the board is in good shape) maybe? Might be able to turn it into a pretty cool standee.

Heres where the monkey thought a chromatic Christmas bow was going to protect this 50Lb chunk of brittle sawdust and glue on its 2000 mile journey .
Im almost impressed by the amount of carless stupidity that this human being was capable of. Careless stupidity that will only cost him in the end for a full refund and the cost of return shipping for the heavy ass ruined object.
Now heres a person who if they really are even a person at all should not be allowed to own a gun because they would undoubtedly almost purposely shoot themselves in their own foot.
This person (monkey) shouldn’t even be allowed to own a lawnmower, because i believe they would reach their fingers down into the spinning blade without constant supervision.
Is this maybe the byproduct of this opioid epidemic i have heard about so much. Is this how a person in a self induced xanax psychosis packages something of significant value? Who are these people!? do they drive cars? Are they allowed sharp objects? How are they even alive without unwittingly ending their own lives in some incomprehensibly retarded way?
I’m just in shock & horror still.................this is a pretty sad day for Mario :,(

Its not minor. Its ruind. Over half its value is gone now. For its age its perfectly reasonable to expect the door to not have been ripped off and glued back on again.
Its going back to the ebay monkey who sold it and they can try to salvage it with glue.
Glueing the door back on and hoping it will still look and function well is a crapshoot and even if it did work out it still will never reclaim the value it had when the door was not damaged making the 500$ i paid for it about 350$ too much. I dont just throw away 350$ for nothing and try to convince everyone and myself it didnt happen......I’m not the president of the united states of america.

I worked in the shipping biz for a while. Amateur Ebay shippers were the worst, no idea how to properly pack and always trying to cut corners and shipping costs. We would tell them "package it like it will be punted to its destination" because that's not too far from the truth.
Thing is, because of the odd ways UPS, FedEx, and the U.S. postal service rate, using a slightly larger box so the item fits properly with the padding can sometimes triple the shipping charge. So the Ebayer would balk and accuse us of trying to rip him off. Or he'd tell us "It can't be over $X because that's what I charged for shipping" as if that changed anything.

>> No.4843025

>>4842986
I gave the seller 178$ for shipping.......they could have done better than a garbage bag full of christmas bows. I would have put the cabinet in a proper fitting box with proper padding and then inside another box full of foam peanuts. Like one box suspended inside another box. That would have worked great and not weighed that much more. The box the seller used was big enough to do that also.

Like for example I bought my PVM-20M2MDU for only 99 cents on a no-reserve auction and only had to pay the $40 shipping but it arrived either damaged or more likely switched at origin for a cosmetically poorer example so I filed a dispute and ended up getting it for free. Even if I had the money I'd still stick to emulators and roms. The retro marketplace is the most predatory and shameless example of naked capitalism I've ever seen. Why would you pay a reseller potentially hundreds of dollars for a game that was a console pack-in.

y'all are cuckolds.

It's funny because they want "muh retro game ebay prices" but don't realize people are paying for the boxes to be in good shape. I recently bought Gran Turismo 1 and 2 on ebay, not rare but they had good jewel cases and were complete. They arrived in a big loose fitting paper envelope with broken jewel cases. Seller almost shit and refunded the entire purchase price and let me keep the games.

I was still pissed as without jewel cases they aren't what I was wanting so now I have to order replacement cases or try to resell these and order ones with legit jewel cases.

Not on GT, but how can sellers not realize that if a loose game is $15 and a CIB is $45, the Box/case is what is giving the extra value? It's so dumb.

I'd much rather play on original hardware (and do) but this is just fucking wrong. MOST retro systems play pretty much flawlessly on emulators, the pixels are not "distorted and jagged". If you mean while playing on an LCD screen, then either get better filters or play on a CRT.

Well it's not like OP is in charge of shipping, is he now? Seller shipped it thinking a fucking bow would work as padding, of course that shit's gonna break. Being an armchair general and saying "shoulda done this" is not exactly the kind of input that's helpful in a situation like this.
Are you a fucking psychopath all the time like this? Do you seriously think what you're saying is appropriate? Was your sense of decorum lobotomized or something?

...I don't? I think it's pretty silly to get upset about a nearly-good condition example of vintage cheap kids furniture from eBay getting moderately damaged in shipping when it was definitely insured three or more different ways. eBay is very generous to the buyers in these type of situations. Mainly I was trying to engage in a little constructive banter on the topic of "ebay shop'n".but also to understand why this thing was so important to him to react this way. If I were to pull the trigger on one of the truly rare things I unreasonably covet like pic related I would be elated if say their bands got broke in shipping and I got a refund and kept them.

Wut? Provide an example of this. There's like a small handful of games on every system that are worth more than they originally cost accounting for inflation. And half of them are genuinely crap games, just expensive because of rarity. So only collectors would moan.

untrue, I used to work at a company that made furniture and you wouldn't believe the amount of touch-ups that had to be done. there are tons of furniture out there, that have factory blemishes, and that did not stop them from selling at retail. tho with a panel damaged like that, we would have simply chucked it.

anyway what you want is wood glue, touch-up crayons and touch-up paint. call nintendo, they should still be able to look through their records and pull up the correct color code used. i've actually called them in the past and they searched through their records from the 90s for me.

Do ebay still do that thing where they have an intermediary do the outward shipping? There was a story I read ages ago where sellers were packing fragile things super carefully, then sending them to the address ebay gave them. Only to find out that this was a hub who would repackage it to make it smaller to cost less. Lots of smashed arcade boards and ruined collectors editions.

Yeah this happens every item I buy from the US since every American seller seems to be signed up to the GSP. They take it out of the original packaging and throw it loose in smaller packaging that isn't fit for purpose. On the plus side I did get a $300 game for free due to this because the case inevitably got damaged.
