Its going back to the ebay monkey who sold it and they can try to salvage it with glue.

I worked in the shipping biz for a while. Amateur Ebay shippers were the worst, no idea how to properly pack and always trying to cut corners and shipping costs. We would tell them "package it like it will be punted to its destination" because that's not too far from the truth.
Thing is, because of the odd ways UPS, FedEx, and the U.S. postal service rate, using a slightly larger box so the item fits properly with the padding can sometimes triple the shipping charge. So the Ebayer would balk and accuse us of trying to rip him off. Or he'd tell us "It can't be over $X because that's what I charged for shipping" as if that changed anything.

I gave the seller 178$ for shipping.......they could have done better than a garbage bag full of christmas bows. I would have put the cabinet in a proper fitting box with proper padding and then inside another box full of foam peanuts. Like one box suspended inside another box. I recently bought Gran Turismo 1 and 2 on ebay, not rare but they had good jewel cases and were complete. They arrived in a big loose fitting paper envelope with broken jewel cases. Seller almost shit and refunded the entire purchase price and let me keep the games.

I was still pissed as without jewel cases they aren't what I was wanting so now I have to order replacement cases or try to resell these and order ones with legit jewel cases.

Not on GT, but how can sellers not realize that if a loose game is $15 and a CIB is $45, the Box/case is what is giving the extra value? It's so dumb.

untrue, I used to work at a company that made furniture and you wouldn't believe the amount of touch-ups that had to be done. there are tons of furniture out there, that have factory blemishes, and that did not stop them from selling at retail. tho with a panel damaged like that, we would have simply chucked it.

anyway what you want is wood glue, touch-up crayons and touch-up paint. call nintendo, they should still be able to look through their records and pull up the correct color code used. i've actually called them in the past and they searched through their records from the 90s for me.

Do ebay still do that thing where they have an intermediary do the outward shipping? There was a story I read ages ago where sellers were packing fragile things super carefully, then sending them to the address ebay gave them. Only to find out that this was a hub who would repackage it to make it smaller to cost less. Lots of smashed arcade boards and ruined collectors editions.

Use a hairdryer to gently and slowly melt the adhesive so you can remove it. If there's not enough adhesive left after removal to reapply it elsewhere just use some regular glue.

Really, everytime I read one of those Ebay experiences it's either the sellers complaining about buyers or buyers complaining about sellers. It's not surprising per se that more negative experiences are stressed out in a hyperbolic way on the internet (let alone on a site where people enjoy to be more insufferable than elsewhere) but it's like nobody here has had normal or average experiences on Ebay. It's not my go-to application for finding /vr/-related stuff but it's not the worst site ever or something.

I bought BVM1910 for $400. Shipper put it on a wooden pallet, strapped down with banding. No protection. It was damaged on the front where being dropped dented in the bottom. Power supply shorted out after turning it on. I could see where it shorted out from being dented.

Yeah this happens every item I buy from the US since every American seller seems to be signed up to the GSP. They take it out of the original packaging and throw it loose in smaller packaging that isn't fit for purpose. On the plus side I did get a $300 game for free due to this because the case inevitably got damaged.
