Some sort of spaceflight sim, I don't think it was Microsoft Space Sim though, it didn't have a 3D viewport. It wasn't entirely text based - but it was mostly text, maybe a vector based top-down flightpath. You could add fuel but that would add weight and you had to try to balance everything. It might not have even been a 'game'!

We didn't get a PC at home till 97 about, where I think it may have been... Creatures!

I can't recall the order I played them in, but it would either be Super Solvers or Star Trek : Borg. It would be a couple of years before I had a PC at home, but I played learning games at school and more "serious" games at my neighbor's house. I would also go next door to print off cheats from a site called Happypuppy, and was introduced to great games like Master of Orion 2. Even better, when Alpha Centauri was released my neighbor didn't like it and gave it to me, and I still play it now and then to this day.

Thanks, neighbors!

More importantly, gaming was very social back then. I almost every day, played with my friends. Or went to a friend's house where he was playing Wolfenstein or Doom or something else. Cool times. Ain't never coming back though.

Technically speaking, this was my 2nd game. I got Muppet Treasure Island for my 9th birthday, but the very next day it went back to the shop, as everyone realised there is no other language version than English, not even subtitles. Got to pick one game of my choice as a replacement. I picked Kupiec.
I regret absolutely nothing. I had an absolute blast with it as a kid and then as a teen. I even was using the "setting" from it for my tabletop RPG games. The only thing that I miss about it is the fact my original copy simply won't work on 64x system, while the work-around emulation lacks Polish letters, instead displaying blank squares in their place. Which as you might guess is fucking annoying.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Not actually owned one of those east german computers (KC84, KC85), but I guess this game and some other clones of western games was the first games that I played on a computer.

My mistake, it wasn't that. BNC connectors reminded me of our school network of 486s, and then I remembered we played Sokoban clone on those, it was MOLE.EXE from Robotlandia educational package.

Also, why the heck default Dosbox aspect correction is just some line doubling performed independently from the scalers instead of within them? The proportions are wrong for 640×350, too.

I can't find a screen shot, but I believe Bernstein Bears Learn about letters was among the first.
You wandered around a forest maze collecting the letters of the alphabet ending with the letter Z from a sleeping bear
