I just recently learned that some people prefer classic Megaman over Megaman X. They must not have played much of it. Boy, are they missing out.

Megaman X is truly the evolution of Megaman and going back to the classic series with Megaman IX was a huge mistake.

X is superior in every way. The X series introduced a dark and complex plot with character development outside Megaman and Dr. Light getting duped by Dr. Wily over and over again.

The enhanced movement options such as the air dash and wall jumping open up a more exciting and dynamic world.

The movement of X is smoother and the level designs are more consistent and are not just disappearing blocks over death spikes repeated over and over in different settings.

It seems like Inti Creates continued the spirit of Mega Man X with their games
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inti_Creates

Maybe the mistake isn't that Capcom continued with Mega Man 9, but rather that they alienated this group of developers in the first place.

>Modern Resident Evil is truly the evolution of Resident Evil and going back to the classic series with Resident Evil Revelations was a huge mistake.

>Modern is superior in every way. The modern series introduced a dark and complex plot with character development outside some people trying to escape a location full of zombies over and over again.

>The enhanced movement options such as the melee and u-turn open up a more exciting and dynamic world.

>The movement of modern Resident Evil is smoother and the level designs are more consistent and are not just basement labs and city buildings over and over in different settings.
If you can't understand the concept of different strokes for different folks, you too might post some opinionated shit like OP and present it as fact.

I take it X1 is the only one you've played, the rest are sadly not as good as X1 except for X4, and also
>Megaman IX
Please don't use Roman numerals when referring to mainline games, Roman numerals are strictly for the Gameboy games which thankfully only go up to V and not up to X. Imagine how confusing it would be if people said Mega Man X in reference to the 10th classic Mega Man game

I don't like how bosses become trivialized once you find their weakness in X instead of just becoming easier for the most part in classic.

X is a weird case. As a whole it's probably the worst series, because the worst games like X7 are the lowest point of the franchise. But the highest (X2 and X4 for me) are among if not the best.

Episode-specific details aesthetics aside, are there any core gameplay elements in X but not mainline other than wall-jumping, a better dash, and power-ups for body armor and buster that you can find in robot levels?

Those are just there to give the menu screen extra flare. The box arts for the NES games use Arabic numerals, hence Mega Man 5 strictly refers to the NES version. The cover arts for the GB games use Roman numerals, hence Mega Man V refers strictly to the GB version(which happens to be radically different from the NES version).

Also, the mainline games drop Roman numerals completely by the 8th game so the existence of "Mega Man XI" cannot even be argued for, as both Mega Man 9's box art and menu screen use Arabic numerals. Though I have to admit it would be funny if Mega Man 10's menu screen called it Mega Man X

Mega Man X's platforming is generally pretty satisfying though rarely particularly difficult

Mega Man is for people who like to struggle with that one jump in that one level. Which is a novelty Mega Man X kind of opts out of. But that doesn't mean there isn't some value to it.

>> No.4838269

>>4838265
The X series is more "run and gunny" in a sense. Less emphasis on platforming and more on defeating enemy formations. Some games more than others, X3 emphasizes this a lot.
Too bad the better bosses are wasted due to the weaknesses, buster-onlying them is a big priority to have fun with them once you no longer suck at games.

That's the main reason X2 and X4 are better. They are probably the only really good sequels, and they're designed with the dash in mind.

When X is good it's mechanically better for sure but it lacks the same charm, and its series lows are far lower than Classic's. Music also took a dive in memorability post SNES.

The plot is the biggest issue for a lot of people. You beat Sigma and feel pretty good, but then you get "rewarded" with a melodramatic speech about how X wonders if there was another way like a big crybaby. It's a pretty big slap in the face desu.

Why are all of the X bosses animals but the other reploids are all human based. That's what kills it for me.
The MM series got dumber as it went on. The first three classic games have a sort of logic to them. The bosses of the first two games have robots that were built for a use, the stages in which you fight them reflects this.
The bosses of 3 are the first with Wily's own robots constructed to stop Rockman.
After that the series starts falling apart, when it reaches centaur man and yamato man the series becomes a parody of itself.

Instead of trying to fix this by having a more focused and down to earth series, they just doubled down and made the X series, which spawns a ridiculous story that keeps becoming more and more ridiculous, which spawns other games that are even more ridiculous.
The series is a mess and way overrated.

>> No.4839035

>>4838669
Maybe if you paid attention to MM6's plot you would know Yamato Man and Centaur Man are both part of an international robot competition and they are representing their countries hence their designs. Besides, MM1-MM3 brought us Top Man, Bubble Man, and Cut Man, some of the most laughable designs in Mega Man
