I orderd a rebuilt gameboy color form ebay, and god damn that shit is dim, i forgot how bad kids used to have it, also the controls are tiny for my adult hands. here i am 30 years ol leaning over the arm of the couch, ass in the air with the console under the lamp. I cant complain what i got was what i ordered, but damn my nostalgia goggles where blurry as fukk. ive only played gameboy games on it so far, do the gameboy color games show up better?

As sad as it sounds a GBA is probably what you're looking for to play GB and GBC games.

GBC is great but it's best played in sunlight. GB is pretty damn good with a backlight and bivert mod. The "washed yellow" screen that is sold is probably the closest to the pea green that we remember.

GBC "can" be backlit, but it honestly looks like dogshit and is horribly washed out. It's not worth it, https://youtu.be/9vSxneikLEg?t=3m29s . It's honestly horrible and a terrible waste of original hardware.

by getting a super gameboy or using a gameboy player

OP no offense but you have small hands

At first I thought this was not a normal GBC but a custom GBC XL or something, but it was really just the hand vs. the item.

Ah, yeah the the non-backlit screen can be a shock if you don't have good lighting and aren't used to it. I actually like playing on an ambient-light lit screen after tens of hours with LCD screens and cell phones every day. That said, I asked about this in the last thread; how do the buttons and shell feel? I'm interested in buying a 'rebuilt' unit myself, and have heard the buttons can feel mushy and shells can feel 'thin' or something. The all clear aftermarket shells with black buttons are so sick though. My original one is yellow as hell.

>how do the buttons and shell feel?
great, feels like new, very solid and responsive. the controls feel very accurate. there's a slight rattle to the system when you shake it, but its not an issue might even be normal. the shell feels thick and solid theirs no torsion to speak of, not to umply that i was twisting or banging it around. one of the reasons i chose a gameboy color over say an SP or gameboy advanced was because of its "rugged" reputation, this lives up to that, the ebay seller claims he uses official nintendo parts, it seems to live up to that. I can recommend this one, idk about other ebay sellers making similar claims.

also this particular seller was fast about it, i ordered on the 9th and received it today on the 13th. I'm a bit wary of ebay sellers, but after a bit of griping about it online i was told to just suck it up and buy whatev dosen't look too much like a scam like everyone else dose. I would like to pass that advice along to others.

Yeah, it's bad. I used to play by lamplight back in the day. You're going to want a GBA SP it fixes this shit.
