I actually did. First try since I posted. I guess posting in /vr/ brings good luck.

This was by far the hardest fight so far. Curious to see how hard Mike really is

Tyson is faster, but his patterns are otherwise more consistent with the rest of the fighters in the game. Sandman has some really awkward timings.

>> No.4833594

The difficulty jump to Sandman is the second highest in the game imo, only the jump from Macho to Tyson is bigger. Mach-O is harder than sandman but only just slightly, and entirely because of that spin punch/around the world nonsense. If you get the timing down for that the rest of the fight is easier than the rest of the sandman fight

I feel your pain, OP.

I found Sandman really tough, but beat Macho on my first try. I guess I just got lucky figuring out the spin punch timing right away.

I just find them hard in different ways. Macho is more straight-up fast and hits hard, leaving not much room for error. If I fucked up on Macho man it was usually just a dumb mistake where I didn't react fast enough and got knocked down for it. With Sandman I'd make mental errors and stupid mistakes like trying to hit him in the face twice in a row. If I was in the zone for Sandman, I'd never lose. But if not, it would be frustrating.

Sandman is so fucking easy. At one point you throw a punch, let him dodge, then his next punch is always telegraphed. You can get like 10 good hits in

Not too many will figure that out the first time, though.

Play it on a CRT, the game is very unforgiving and the subtle delay on modern screens is a significant handicap.

I can't. I'm playing it on an emulator anyway.

I got to Mr Dream now (I thought my version had Tyson, oh well), wish me luck

How to beat Sandman:

Go for the face. He'll block and then body blow, dodge that and punch him in the stomach until he blocks. Do this the entire fight. THE ENTIRE FIGHT. The only time he won't go for the body blow is when he does the uppercuts.

That is seriously it.

Emulators work on CRTs and have less input lag than consoles.

There's a guy that snaps at the crowd, you should that when he does that. As far as I remember.
