Fucking love this game

One of those games I had a hard time putting down, this had Dragon Warrior monsters as Pokemon, but with chances of catching without an item (well for beginner monsters at least), random dungeons all day everyday, and new worlds

I'm going through a 2nd playthrough now and holy shit I dont remember anything about breeding, I think I just bred willy illy and leveled up like any rpg. What's the patrician team to have, how to get?

And how are the other Dragon Warrior/Quest Monster games? I never got into the sequel, I always picked the brother and idk, I never got as hooked as I did with the 1st game. Did the series get any better? Because I will instant buy any of the new ones if it's better than the 1st game

If you have a hacked 3DS you can download the remake with a translation patch.

Did you ever get late game and get some really glitched out mosnters from breeding? My bro got a tree slime with nearly maxed out stats

Games with heavy randomness that manage to stay balanced all the way through normal play but then break to shit if you push them further are great

I personally think this series declined after the 2nd game - Caravan Heart just felt like a pretty bad SMT game, then the Joker engine games just makes things too slow and got rid of the item-based resource management

By the time GBA was out, I found DW Monsters II for really cheap, one of the best hidden gems I ever found on clearance.

Without a guide it would be impossible as a kid in the mid 90's to make the late game boss monsters.

All the boss monsters are OP as fuck. And IIRC Gold Slime is a unkillable tank.

The monster fusion paths in DQM have always been insane
Not exactly /vr/ material but getting some of the rank X monsters in the DS and 3DS games easily took hours each.

At least you had internet then, back then without the guide you're fucked.

Patrician Team is taking what would be normally considered a weak monster like FairyRat or Dracky but breeding to make a +7 version of themselves. Just stay away from the cookie cutter early-game team that usually consists of Dragon/Golem/MadCat.

I always kekked in the A-rank tournament where the opponent has Slime/Dracky/Armyant.

Stagbugs are pretty amazing for how early you can breed one

The sprites were so great in these games.

Having liked both Dragon Warrior and Pokemon back in the day I wanted to get into these games, but I just couldn't when Iw as a kid. Perhaps I should give them another shot.

One of the first issues of Nintendo Power I got had all the breeding results listed out. I'd look at that thing for hours and I didn't even have the game.

Apparently every issue of Nintendo Power is now online, I'll have to track that down.

I had that issue too! It helped me create my boss monsters.

You wouldn't happen to remember what was on the cover, would you? I know it's somewhere between issues 145-158 or so
