The fear of blood tends to create fear for the flesh

Never really understood what that's supposed to mean.
Anyway.

The first Silent Hill I played was 2, because everyone told me it was the best.
After playing SH1, though, I do believe the first installment is the best one.
The atmosphere the first game creates is unmatched.

I believe most people prefer SH2 just because it's a bit less clunky and the graphics are better.

I played them in order when I was a kid and 2 felt more melancholy and i was a bit disappointed
was a also expecting an actual sequel to 1 instead of a standalone story
too bad I can't say 1 and 3 are my favourites without being called a hipster nowadays

I played 2 first and then 3. Loved the fuck out of them.

Tried 1 several times but just couldn't deal with the horrid tank controls and blocky graphics with warping polygons. Can Minecraft like graphics create a horror atmosphere? lmao

Also played like a half or a third of 4, but dropped it as it was nothing like the previous games and I wasn't enjoying myself. Supposedly 4 is an unrelated project that got rebranded as a SH game quite late in the development.

And then some unrelated teams made some more SH games but at that point I just didn't care. In my mind SH is the duology of 2+3.

Would've been interesting if the let you switch between perspectives right from the start
wonder why they abandoned the idea for future games? Did the technology not allow it?

I figure it boils down to "if you hate bloodshed then you'll truly hate man" or the living or something along those lines

I played SH1 first then 2 then 4, then years later 3 and shattered memories and I honestly enjoyed most of them except SH2 which just gave me a headache whenever I was in the streets

Fear of the blood = Fear of the vital forces that flow within you, your emotions, pain, etc

Fear of the flesh = Scared of life, living, etc

If you're afraid of that which makes you human that flows through you, you'll be afraid of life as such.

Traditional survival horror games — with tank controls, fixed camera angles, and cryptic adventure-type puzzles — are too quirky, too clunky, and too demanding for today’s overly coddled players.
